Hi Everyone, It seems like a lot of you still want to go for a drive tomorrow so we should still go forward and chance it with the weather. If it is bad tomorrow we can reschedule. I did not go forward with the caterers incase the weather was bad so no worry there. There is Crosby Marina 5 minutes from the house with a casual restaurant (Keeper's Restaurant)and we can all go there and have lunch. Regards Peter 617 816-9972 the address of the house is 298 Bridge St in Osterville, WHo ever is coming from the North going going south on route 3 lets meet at exit 12 (marshfield/pembroke exit) Off the exit go towards Marshfield there you will see a Mobil and a Gulf station Across from that there is a a SkiMarket lets meet in the parking lot of the SkiMarket at 11.00am If you are coming from another direction lets meet at the Sagmore Bridge at around 11.45.-12.00am ( there is a Texaco Station there and we can all meet up there and drive down Rounte 6 togather. If those locations are not convenient for you give me a call on my cell and we can meet at an alternate location (peter 617 816-9972) |

weather.com is showing a 30% chance of a "few showers" for osterville through most of the day. it sure doesn't sound that bad. they were forecasting that for today too, and the rain's been over for the past few hours. i'm hoping the wet weather will have kept folks at home, so the commute back won't be too bad. doody. |

i think the weather tomorrow is very likely to be like it is right now - overcast but not really rainy - except in some very isolated unlucky spots. i'm planning to attend, as per my prior post. i tried to reach theo and peter yesterday afternoon via email but have not gotten any responses. grandma is expecting me, so my schedule is set in stone . you guys might want to take it upon yourselves to just make some decisions about timing and meeting places. see you in osterville, gents! doody! |

i need to have my schedule hammered down by now, so it looks like i'm going to have to bail on the ferrari convoy down, since we don't seem to have the details hammered out. i'm going to head down super-early and visit some family/friends beforehand. i'll plan on being at Bridge St. shortly before Noon (based on Peter's prior posts of 12:00-12:30 lunch start. if someone steps up and organizes it all in the next couple hours i might be able to change my schedule around. but once i call grandma to tell her i'll be in Dennisport for breakfast, i'm totally locked in :-) the address is 298 Bridge St. in Osterville. you can get directions at mapsonus, but generally speaking, get to downtown Osterville from the main drags; fork right onto Parker near the center; go right on West Bay; then left onto Bridge St., over the bridge, and up a half mile or maybe even less. at least that's what the maps say :-). looking forward to seeing everybody on sunday. the weather forecast seems to be smiling on us - keep your fingers crossed! doody! |

1DOWN: We have the cottage for the weekend, now 1TO GO: I've just got to get my alternator rebuilt & back in. Expect to make it! I'm starting tonite as soon as the engine gets cool enuf to work on. I've got tomorrow off, & we aren't planning to leave until late tomorrow evening. I'm assuming the contingent linking up @24/495 will come over the Bourne Bridge, then take 28 down to 151, & 151 across to S. County rd into Osterville, & then to Bridge street. We'll be in Cotuit, not far from Osterville. Looks like the best place for us to try to link up with the caravan would be in Santuit. I guesstimate the caravan will go thru there about 11:30-11:45. Peter, would you pls eMAIL me your Cell phone #. Also give me a call just after the caravan crosses the Bourne Bridge. That'll be my signal to pull out for Santuit. |

Just to confirm that we are still on for this Sunday August 3 (weather permiting). Can everyone please let me know if they are coming and if they are bringing someone with them. Let me know what direction you are coming from so we can finalize meeting points so people can drive down togather. One spot that has been suggested has been 24/495 intersection. Also if anyone is already on the south shore another group could meet at exit 12 off of route 3 (marshfield/pembroke) and drive down from that point we should plan on being down on the Cape (298 Bridge St. Osterville) for lunch around 12 or 12.30 so around and 11am meeting time should work depending on which meeting point. Regards Peter Ps let me know by email if you can make it [email protected] |

I think we'll be there. My wife's family owns a cottage in Cotuit. My wife keeps the sign-up roster. Somehow she let her sister sign up for next week, including the weekend. She thinks her sister won't be using the weekend, but hasn't got confirmation of that yet. Our participation is contingent on 2 things: 1) The cottage being available. 2) My getting my alternator replaced so we aren't in fear of a break-down en-route. I can only control #2(sigh).

If Saturday I will drive to my cottage at 6:00AM and back Saturday eve. Leave Mashpee at 6:00AM Sunday. No traffic and a pleasant drive. Sunday evening traffic has increased but after 8:00 or 9:00PM should not be too bad. Of course this all hinges on my wife's plans. May have family visiting that weekend.

it's Peter's house, so he gets to run the schedule :-) but if the only reason he's considering the move is traffic, then let's not move it. if he has other problems with sunday then so be it. i agree on pre 0800 too. it has to be early, or we might as well all drive those lovely old eagle summits (what, were they like fifteen feet high off their wheels or something like that?) :-) doody. |

I second Doody's opinion. Leave it on Sunday. I have been going to the cape during the summers for the last 25 years and there is always traffic Saturday afternoon (both ways as renters enter and exit the cape) and Sunday afternoon leaving the cape. If we can arrange an early morning meet (before 8 am) we can have a smooth cruise into the cape. We would need to stay until about 8 pm for the traffic to subside in order to cruise back home (sometimes you can leave earlier but you have to go over the Borne bridge instead of the Sagamore). What do others think? Theo |

i don't see how that'll change any of the traffic issues. instead of a "crappy" ride down and a "nightmarish" ride home it'll just be inverted. most of the rentals run saturday to saturday, so you get huge traffic on saturday aft/eve; and you'll have everybody who didn't leave on friday heading down for the weekend on saturday morning. in fact, sunday is probably better since virtually nobody heads down sunday morning (and if we do it earlier rather than later - even better), and if we just stick it out (at the house, or at a restaurant) until 8 or 9 pm then it'll be notably better heading back. so my attribution is that you can attempt to engineer a non-crappy sunday commute, but it's much harder ot engineer a non-crappy saturday commute. just one man's opinion though! doody. |

i think theo's suggestion on a meeting spot is a great one. for folks coming down 93 from the north, it's not that far out of the way to hook from 93 over to 24 - and the resultant ride is generally more pleasant than 3. the only challenge here is going to be traffic. while sunday morning is usually not as bad as saturday morning, it might yet suck :-). and getting off the cape on sunday aft/eve is, well, a tad challenging sometimes! doody. |

Peter, See my earlier post. I think that the 495S/24S intersection would be a good spot. We can meet at one of the Mobils (there's 2 one across from the other on 24) and then convoy down to the cape. The stretch of 495S down to the cape is a nice ride (I take this route to the cape with the family a lot). If anyone has a better idea, please post. Thanks, Theo |

How about meeting at one of the Mobile rest stops/gas stations at the 24/495 intersection? People from MA/NH can come down 495S or 24S and people from NY/RI/CT can come up 495 N. From here, we can drive 495S over the Bourne bridge into the cape. We'll have a Ferrari convoy!! Theo |

Peter, thanks for hosting this!!! It sounds great. My wife & I'll join in. I'm blocking out the calendar. Since we are coming from all over NE, How about designating some intermediate meeting points & times at each: Say one in north-central MA, for those of us coming down from Northern MA/NH. Another for those coming up from CT/NY, Maybe Worcester area? Then every body joins up with those from RI & western CT someplace close to the Cape & we caravan from there.

Hi Guys, I visited a friend of mine in Boston this weekend....He's just finished building an incredible property in Osterville, Cape Cod.....As a fellow Ferrari enthusiast, I suggested we organize a drive to Osterville for drinks and hors deuvres at the estate. I'd like to get an idea if anyone would be interested in this....we're looking at August 3rd as a possible date.... I've attended a couple of the drives that Matt Lemus organised for the Southern California region & thought it might be fun to do one here.... Here's a link to Peters' estate (he's a new member to the site), I think you'll agree it'll make a spectacular backdrop for a Ferrari gathering, and a good opportunity to showcase the property. I'm going to post this message in the tristate area as well; the more the merrier!!! http://www.oysterrealestate.com/continue.exe?html=listing.html^mls=1088^ptype=0 (sorry but the website doesn't link properly, you'll need to cut and paste) Jason |
