Sorry for the length of time but I havent checked in on the Michigan area lately. I thought the show was nice again. There were many 3X8s, a few 360s. The very nice 246 Dino in silver was there again. The Lambo population was down a bit from last year. There was a nice Lancia Strato (kit) from Canada, lots of nice Alfas and some really great bikes. A friend of mine brought two bikes and tied himself for first place. Top billing went to the yellow Enzo that Cauley brought. Plates say BRKAWAY. Guess who that belongs to.

I will be with my cooler and family (Dad, Mom, uncle, Aunt, and my son) on the picnic tables. I will try to remember to wear my yellow Ferrari Owners Club hat.
Jerry, Are we going to try to have a "West Coast" get together yet this fall?

Ok, got "permission" from the wife to go to the car show. Does anyone want to set up a place to meet so we can get to know each other face-to-face instead of just at the other end of a keyboard?

I'm doing the Auburn thing too this Saturday. Gonna try and get there early, around 8:30 or so to avoid the rush. That is such a cool event, you see everything ever made...and some that shouldn't have been. Maybe I'll see you there Bill, though I probably won't know it at the time since we've never met.

Yeah, I think she was. I agree about the Lambos. There were many very nice Italian cars of all types there. If I weren't going to Auburn this weekend I'd be there too.

It is at Freedom Hill Park off the metroparkway in Sterling Heights. Hope to see you there. Bill, I don't disagree with the "Car Show" style but I did think there were some very interesting Lambos there also. Was the "ex-stripper type" the one with the cowboy hat?

I attended both the Concorso and the Italian Happening last year and IMHO the Italian Happening is nowhere near as good as the Concorso. That, of course, does not mean that it's not worth attending. The Grosse Pointe show is a high-level concourse whereas the Italian Happening is a car show. There's nothing wrong with that, but if you are expecting a Concorso-style show you will be disappointed. There were some interesting Ferraris at the Italian Happening, including a nice 330 GTC, a 275 GTB and a Daytona, but that's about it. As proof of the difference between the two, one of the more 'interesting' cars at the Italian Happening was a pimped-out Boxer convertible with a motion-sensor activated recording that screamed "Please step away from the car!" when someone got too close. There was a forty-something ex-stripper type hovering around the car. When I saw her I told my fourteen year old daughter I'd kill her if she ever dressed like that. She turned to me in all seriousness and replied, "Don't worry Dad, if I dressed like that I'd kill myself first!"

Jeff , sorry to hear about your Caddy. The Italian happening is on 16 mile road/metro park hwy.It takes place at the Freedom hill facility.Metro pk. hwy. is a relatively good wide road you shouldn't have any problems.Good luck.

Where is this event located? Is there easy highway access? The last 2 times I was in the Detroit area my Caddy STS got 2 window chips, one windshield chip, and 3 paint chips. It's a jungle around there.

Jerry, good question. It's a tough choice between those two.Since you did the concorso maybe auburn makes more sense. To answer your question though, probably about the same number of cars but more diversity, i.e. lambos, masers, alfas, mangustas, panteras, etc. There are no judges per say, the public votes for each class.

How is this show compared to the Corcorso D' Italia on 8/2? More cars, more Ferraris? Is it fun? I'm contemplating either going to this or the Auburn auction. Thanks, Jerry.

I'm going . This is always a good show, very low key,but always a good turnout. This show started in the early '80's, and gets better every year.

Is anyone else going to the Italian Happening on Aug. 31? It is in the Detroit area and put on by the Alfa club I believe.
