Guys, My car is insured through American Collectors Insurance, affiliated with USAA. My other cars are through USAA. Because my 308 is over 20 or 25 years old (I forget which it has to be) I get a very good rate but have a limitation on what I can use it for (pleasure driving only) how many miles a year I can put on it and it has to be kept in a locked garage. USAA has always been excellent, though until recently I've had very few reasons to call them! Jonathan

I've had Metropolitan aka 'MetPay' coverage thru a group plan at work for 20 years or so. Had a kid put a crease in my 308's lower rear quarter panel a couple of years ago. The car was in the Compaq parking lot at the time.He was nice enough to report it to plant security. One phone call & 1 stop at a Metropolitan appraiser and I had a $900 check in 48 hours. The appraiser actually knew a bit about 308s & recommended the same places I'd come up with for repairs. Actually paid more than I was expecting. About 10 years ago I rolled a 2-year old Rx7 Turbo in the middle of fender bender season. Took almost a month for the appraiser to get to it, but I got a check for full book value which was $4k more than I'd paid for the car a few days earlier! They were very apologetic about the delay. All my Metropolitan experiences have been very positive. Very professional & business like crowd.

Insured with National Grange. No claims...so...no problems. My GT4 turns 25 in January and I'm thinking about antique plates and the insurance to go with that status. Does any one have feedback pro or con on this? Tom |

Doody, My 328 is insured with Liberty Mutual. Luckily, I have had no issues or problems with them or my car. Theo

Mr. Doody, I have never had to file a claim for Ferrari damage but 2 years ago had a minor accident with my Porsche 930S. This Porsche should be a comparable car due to low manufacture(<100) and high cost for OEM parts. Insured with Safety Insurance. Original estimate was $3,200.00. Sent the Porsche to a well-respected Porsche body shop. The end repair cost was $12,000.00. Safety paid all less the deductible. No issues. I continue to insure all my cars with Safety. Just another data point.

hey all. the following thread on 6SpeedOnline got me thinking about my auto insurance once again: http://www.6speedonline.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=1324 i don't know if this "FBIC" is a serious organization or not, nor what exactly its methodology is. but since they're doing the good AND the bad (as opposed to just bashing or glowing singlemindedly), it may be interesting data. at the bottom of the thread you'll see my extraction of the MA carriers (or a reasonable number thereof, if not all). i'm curious to know a few things from the (current or past) MA residents who own f-cars. please reply [1] who are you insured with? [2a] have you ever made a claim regarding your f-car. [2b] if so, how did it pan out? who was at fault? how much was covered? was the work adequate? etc. etc. i can't imagine this wouldn't be useful data to collect. doody! |
