Ferrari Club of America - New England Region

The current weather forecast for Sunday shows sunny skies -- with temps now predicted to be in the mid 70's! So come out and check out the pageantry of rampaging stallions -- and polo too! This will be the Ferrari Cup, sponsored by Ferrari and Maserati of New England (http://www.ferrariofnewengland.com/). Free admission to Myopia Polo and free espresso and dessert. What a great way to spend your Sunday? If you can't make it for our morning drive, you can meet us at Woodman's, at the Commons, or directly at Myopia.

The dress code for polo is 'country casual' - generally, no jeans and tee shirts. Dress shorts are fine as well as khakis and pants. Any collared shirt is fine - polo or button down. Women dress similarly - dress shorts, capris, slacks, sundresses. The sunny side of the field may require sunglasses and/or a cap. Folding chairs and picnic blankets are comfortable.

Again, well meet at 11:00 am in the parking lot outside of Barnes & Noble/Starbucks, adjacent to the North Shore Mall in Peabody (intersection of Rt. 114 and Rt. 128). Our drive will take us through Manchester-By-the-Sea, Gloucester, Rockport, Essex, Ipswich and Topsfield. We'll stop for lunch at the famous Woodman's (www.woodmans.com). We'll be using Motorola (FRS) radios on the drive, so bring one if you have one (channel 3, code 8). MAKE SURE you've filled your gas tank!

*** After lunch, we'll stop at The Commons reception hall (www.topsfieldcommons.com) in the Topsfield common, where we'll have complimentary espressos, cappuccinos and Italian desserts, courtesy of new member and huge tifosi, Frank Martino!!!

After we top off on caffeine and sugar, we'll press onwards to spectate on the oldest existing polo field in the US. Free admission to FCA members driving Ferraris and Maseratis! "The Polo Clubs lush fields and tall evergreens are evidence of the long tradition of the sport. The first match was played here in 1888 on the oldest existing polo field in the United States. This is the 115th season of Myopia Polo, 1888-2003, and will offer spectators some of the finest competitive polo in the country." Polo starts at 3pm, and well arrive around 2:30pm. We will have reserved parking for Ferraris and Maseratis. The match lasts until about 5:00pm - and then there is an awards ceremony, with all children receiving a free souvenir. There will be two club teams competing for the Ferrari Cup. Also, there is a tradition at half time where the audience is invited onto the field for divot stomping!

If you plan on attending, please send me an email.

If youre headed directly to the club: from the north, take I-95 S. to Rt-133 E. Travel Rt-133 E. Rt-1A joins 133. Stay on Rt-1A S. through Ipswich and on to Hamilton. Look for the Polo Grounds on left, approximately 2.5 mi. after the Hamilton town line. From the south, take Rt-128 N. to Exit 20A - intersection of Rt-1A N. Travel Rt-1A N. for 3.8 miles through North Beverly, Wenham, and South Hamilton. The Myopia Polo Grounds will be on your right. It is well marked with a sign.

HOPE TO SEE YOU ON SUNDAY!

vty,

--Dennis
