200K will not get you much along I-95 between DC and Baltimore. Frederick, MD is the answer. All the convenience of a smaller city in a rural setting and only 1/2 hour from the DC and Baltimore beltways. Good trout fishing in the nearby mountains. |

Yeah, the DC metro area is a bit pricey and for that range you won't have a whole lot of luck. If you don't mind moving a bit farther from the city then the Frederick, MD area you should find a lot more homes in your range. It's about equidistant to both DC and Baltimore at the I-70/I-270 junction. Now if you really want to be in the DC area then Prince George's County is the way to go...maybe in the Laurel/Greenbelt/College Park area. I'm not much help as far as finding a realator to work with as I'm still a college student and not in the market yet, but I hope I've been of some help. |

Omar, There should be plenty of places around that meet your requirements, but you'll probably have to spend a bit more than 200k for them. Bob Steinhagen should be able to help you out. He's on here but doesn't post too much.. think he's too busy selling houses and driving his cars.. but check his website for what's available in that area and drop him an email. I just bought a house in Florida, but was working with Bob before that to find a place in the DC area. I was a bit worried about dealing with shady realtors and salespeople, but found Bob to be a helpful straight shooter, no BS kinda guy. Drop him a line and I'm sure he could steer you in the right direction. His site: www.homesdatabase.com/bevorbob -R |

I really want to buy my first home. I want idealy a 3 bedroom, kitchen, dining, family, living room, along with a multi-bath. Also, hopefully, a place to park would be nice...but a 2 car garage would be perfect. Also nice would be a pool/hottub, etc. But these are just lux anyway. I am looking for around 170-200k. Preferably 1/2 way betwween DC and Baltimore. Any thoughts? Am I pricing it right or am I too low/high? Sorry for the complete lack of knowledge if I am asking a stupid question, I never looked into houseing before. |
