Ben:

This explains why you are always suggesting we watch 'Dragon' instead of 'Le Mans' - at least with the former you can say 'I can do that! See!' :-)

Never did get beat up in high school, but i did punch and knock out our football coach my freshman year (long story).

for some reason he would not allow myself to play on the team so i took up motocross racing instead.

[note to self, stop snaping Nika's bra from behind. She dosen't like it...]

I got along great in High School, but way back in elementry school I have a story...

I had broken my left leg in the Exploratorium's Shadow-box (cool place for an injury, or so I still think to this day :-)
The class bully that everyone hated decided it would be "funny" to grab my leg in the cast, and "pull me around by it", so I would have to "hop". I endured this for about 30 seconds, then he started pulling faster...

I was either going to go down head-first into the concreate, or do something about it. And I wasn't going to do the concreate thing. I still don't know how, but through some divine guidance from Bruce Lee, I spun around with my good foot, and kicked him square in the face, twirled about and landed on my feet, and picked up my crutches... To this day I have no idea know how I did it.

He went down, and stayed down. He was a full 20lbs and a head taller (and 2 grades older) than me.

Surprisingly, nobody ever picked on me again...

Best!
Ben.

Nope

I was skinny in high school but was very into Martial Arts with a couple of friends. It seems that word got out of our love of free sparring. It also helped that we sometimes sparred in the halls running between classes and one of my class projects was a demonstration of some weapons that happened to be in the courtyard with a lot of other classes looking on.....lol. Not to be boastfull but nobody really wanted to start anything with us besides we got along with most cliques and were nice guys ;-)

When you are the tallest girl in jr high no one bothers you. One guy thought it funny to harass me and grab my bra and snap it from behind.

I turned around, belted him with a right. He was out for a few minutes and never bothered me again. To this day he's the only person I've ever knocked out.

I've never really fought. During HS I was 5'11' and 220lbs; I was the funny/smart kid who did theatre and video/tech stuff, and I've always been someone who gets along with just about everyone and had friends in the different preppy / jock / drama / druggie / skater / nerd crowds. I also moved around and changed HS schools 3x, so I was usually a 'new kid.'

They'd throw the first punch, but I'd give 'em nightmares, which, I'm quite positive - many still have to this day. The only contact anybody ever made on me was hitting from behind while trying to break a hearing aid while I was wearing it. Some succeeded, but none ever got a second punch in, nor did they pick a fight with me again, as they recalled what broken bone(s) felt like. I was *at least* 50-0 by the time I graduated.

Nope, I'm 6'5" and 255lbs. so nobody really picked on me. Plus I'm a charmer/dickhead so I got along with everybody. Either way not many fights took place at my school...particularly during the years I was there. Oh, and as a side note...if anybody has seen the MTV show "Who Got Game" the guy called "White Chocolate" went to my school. I used to ball with him in our little park when we were kids and I owned his ass.:-) He still acts the same too. Anyway, sorry for rambling... :-)

I got into a fight with one of the football players - not sure why he wanted to kick my ass, but after about 3 minutes it was obvious I wasn't too skilled at what I was doing. Anyhow, the after effect was the complete opposite of what I expected; the other guys thought I was cool for even going at it with him, and girls kinda took notice too.

Few years otta school, my gf and I went to a very exclusive restaurant on Christmas (or New Years)eve. Turns out this guy's older brother (who also had an attitude problem) was working at the bar. I actually felt sorry for the guy as he was waiting on us and all.

I was one of those smart ass kids to which everyone always says "one of these days you're going to get your asse kicked". Hard for you guys to believe that, huh? ha!

I was 89lbs. when i was on the jr. high wrestling team (2nd to lightest class) and only weighed 145lbs. when I got out of high school. So you'd think I would have gotten killed, but somehow I made it through just fine. A few minor fights with the jocks and rednecks (they weren't fond of punk, skater types in the early 80s) but nothing that I really lost. Must have been the reach and the speed, ha!

This big Kid in 3rd grade ( 55 pounds 3'11") picked on me and his name was Lee. Real bad-ass for a third grader. Then 15 years later I was in love with this girl named Lee. Kind of screwed with my mind. I grew up hating the name "Lee" wasn't very common name.

I got mugged by two punks in 6th grade, after my fancy folder and color pens. I was so nice to them durring the robbery they let me keep my stuff after it was all over. I took up weight lifting after that.

Guy picked on me in 11th grade which was funny because I was a big weight lifter, wrestler athlete type. But this guy was so fat, that I don't konw how you could punch him or pick him up and drop him to the ground. Anyway... a few years later while I was a life guard at Clearwater beach I get a call and the guy is in the water dead. Funny how things happen in life, this bully was the only guy that messed with me and now he is dead and i'm the guard that gets the rescue call.

No fights for me. I was at least a year younger than everyone else and always was one of the smallest in the class. I kept my mouth shut - not so now.

My HS was similar Mike. I was not a jock, but I was 6'2" and 210lb or so. I got in one big fight, ended up smashing the guys face into a concrete floor repeatedly and causing a bloody mess. He had 2 badly blacked eyes and loose teeth. I got suspended for 10 days (so did he).

Despite "kicking his butt" as everyone said, Im pretty sure I felt worse than he did. I dont know why, but it really did make me feel terrible.

The only fight Ive been in since then was in college. At a party, while under the influence of naughty stuff... a girl came screaming through the room bleeding from her mouth with a guy in hot pursuit. I (and everyone else) followed them into the attached basement garage. The girl hid in a car and locked the doors. The guy tried to yank them open while yelling at her. She was crying hysterically. The guy was about 5'7" and 150lb. I really beat the crap out of him. Literally picked him up and threw him down on the concrete floor, landing him on his head. When friends pulled me off, the guy was damn near unconcious. I didnt feel bad at all and was actually pumped over the entire thing. Probably because of being under the influence and probably lucky I didnt really hurt the guy and get in big trouble. I have not been in a fight sense and cant fathom one happening.

About a year later at a different party, I bumped into the same guy and girl, still together. I smiled at him, winked at her and walked off. If he had beat on her again that night, I wouldnt have lifted a finger for her. She chooses to stick around with a guy who abuses her.... she gets what she deserves.

I was picked on from the 3rd to 6th grade until one kid (in the 6th) came after me with a baseball bat. I had it at that time because my dad told me to defend myself. I broke his arm and his leg with his own bat. I was never picked on again in school. I did not get in any trouble, the school knew I was picked on and the kid that went after me was a bully. He was bounced from the school.

I never understood the whole "beat up" thing. Then again, I was always the biggest kid in class. I think I was about 6'2" and 210lbs in high school - probably closer to 6'3" and 240 when I got out.

The only kids that ever messed with me were the ones trying to prove themselves against the "big guy". I remember one time where a kid kicked me for no reason and I picked him up by his neck - but it wasn't a fight. Another time one of the
"cool popular kids" said he was going to "get me when I least expected it" after I claimed an accident he caused with me on my insurance (he said he wanted to just pay it, but never ended up paying me). I told him to go ahead, but he never did anything.

The only time I ever DID get in a fight was with this one kid - I don't even remember his name - but he was a twin and him and his twin sister both had red hair, pale skin, and tons of freckles. I kicked his ass so bad it was a shame. I honestly felt bad within 10 minutes of the fight. I remember I was friends with this one kid who was kinda weak and nerdy, and this red-hair kid grabbed his wallet and stole $5 out of it, while we were on a field trip in Washinton DC. he was taunting my friend and saying "what are YOU gonna do about it, shrimp?". I just remember picking him up and slamming his head into the side of the bed and then into the wall. He stumbled around a little, then started bleeding profusely, then he fell over, and sort of hobbled/stumbled out of the room. I was so scared - I thought I was going to jail! :-)

Never really got in any fights after that - well one time I did. but nothing too bad. Fights are bad... a couple of 6'+/200lb+ guys going at it with rage until one of them stops getting up is a scary thing to behold - chances are someone will get hurt, possibly permanently.

Not really. The one time I really had an "event", my opponent (a football player 100 lbs heavier than I was at the time) ended up with an arm broken in 2 very painful places. Methinks this forestalled further harassment...

Ah, the power of hand-to-hand personal defense training...

Ah, high school... 5'11", 140 pounds... i got entangled with more crap in junior high than high school, but there was still the occasional scuffle in those last 4 years (okay, 5)... When everyone else was in the gym bench pressing, i was dong leg lifts (440lbs. per leg) so when 3:00 came, i could high-tail it... Now - about 100 pounds heavier, people think twice before they speak in front of me... Ahhhh... the power of cheese...

...(& chocolate and soda and...)

To combine a discussion of getting beaten up in high school with Ferraris.....I am reminded of the garage scene in One Crazy Summer where Bob Goldthwait was talking about how he knew this kid that used to get beat up in high school and John Cusack asks if it was him and Bob Goldthwait says "no... but I used to beat the sh*t out of that kid" Then Teddy drives up in the 308, hits the brother and Bob Goldthwait takes a chainsaw to the 308.:-)

I think almost everyone had older kids that picked on them on occasion. It's the "misfits" (and I don't mean that in a negative way) that I feel sorry for that get harrassed by their peers because they don't "fit in". Kids can be soooo damn cruel!

Seriously... A few times. Mainly because I was a nerdy kid.

One time in Grade school, this crazy kid tried to stab me in the eye with a pen. My other friends pulled him off, but he did manage to cut my eye-lid. A few years later in high-school, he dropped out and I found out he raped some girl(s), did and sold drugs, etc... Last I heard he was in jail, but for how long?... I'm often amazed at the contrast at how in our group of friends, most grew up to be successful and others went down the gutter. We all started out the same in Kindergarten...
