Oops, apologies to Borg fans, I'm thinking of Becker.

Bjorn Borg did not have a pulse much less any sort of charisma..

Nobody dominated tennis the way Sampras did so consistently and for so long.. Jimmy Connors had longevity but only dominated the sport in 1982 and 1974.. McEnroe only did it in the early 80's.. Arthur Ashe only won one grand slam title.. Rod Laver can be a legimate contender as the best ever. He won the grand slam 2 times which Sampras was never able to achieve both as an amateur and professional.

Charisma should not factor into "best" athlete discussions. He is certainly a candidate. Given that tennis was very different before 1968 (the open era I believe) we may make a case that he is the best of the open era. He did not win the French so that hurts him a little. Laver was awesome. Connors and Agassi are a notch below. Borg was up there. 11 grand slams and then retired at a very young age.

I was listening to a sports radio program last night and they were asking who was the best tennis player of all time. None of them said that Sampras was. They all agreed that he is one of the best but would not rate him highest because of his "lack of charisma".

They wanted to rate it Bjorn Borg, Jimmy Connor or maybe even McEnroe. What about Rod Laver or Aurthur Ashe? How about Martina Navratolova??She was a man wasn't she??

I still say Sampras due to his record. Best record of all time. Who could be rated higher???

Pistol Pete is a living legend! I seriously doubt there will be anyone like him in the near future.

Sad to see Pete is done.

As for his wife Chris Farley says it best, "That Veronica Vaughan is one fine piece of ass, I know from experience...if ya know what I mean...."

I must say I'm really going to miss watching Pete play it's been a hell of a run for him for sure. It's been known for a while now but I'm a little sad that that era is over. Any thought's guys?
