Omar- I thought JC's chips or the DINNAN chips would remove the speed limiter, no?

PS: E38 represent!

Best!
Ben.

KDS is right - RENNtech in Florida can do it for Benzes. It runs about $1595.00 (may vary a bit by model). (Danger, shameless plug coming)I am a RENNtech dealer, so PM me if you are interested in more details and I can set it up for you.

The only way I know of that won't void the warrenty is to order the car from the factory without the limiter (and they charge for this as an optional extra).

Brabus re-programmed my wifes E55 . Three redundant codes, I think I paid around $2800.00 for that part of the work. But part of the charges included the new fart pipe and was tied into other work they did. She has around 520hp now.

There is no way to disable governers in E38s, to the best of my knowledge, other BMWs are easier.

For MB's in the US you can use "Renntech" in Florida. They sell remapped ECU's with no governer's as well. A very credible company IMHO.

My understanding is that no one has cracked the MB black box yet and that the AMG cars must be shipped back to the factory (AMG Europe) to have it removed. And for BMW's, US tuners such as Dinan or JC can flash it out...

I may be wrong though.

Ryan,
I have a 99 E55 governed to 155. The governor can be removed. It is my understanding that a new ECU chip programed to a higher limit is the proper way to do this. There are places to get it done, an MB dealer won't do it. Believe me, you DONT want to void a warrnaty on a AMG car. Wait until it expires.

They seem to all come limited at 155mph; is there a way to 'reflash' the ECU or something to take out the governor. If I bought a new E55 or Z8 I'd definitely want it removed. Even if I never passed 155, I'd always have the nagging idea of suppression of the car's potential in the back of my head.

I realize this would likely void warranties, but I just want to know if there's places to get it done.
