Thad, What kind of business do you want to start? You know, dare I say, if you can close a deal and have an innovative idea....you need VC and a telephone....not a degree. DL |

Go to UCLA. That's where I am, and I transferred from a CC, just like you. Got a full ride, to boot! Sutdying now for my LSATs, and will see Ryan at Harvard in a few years! |

I would absolutely love to go to USC but it is tough to get into and it is expensive as well. Does anyone out there have any suggestions on who to I should speak to aid my chances of getting admitted? My grades may not be the best but, I am a hard worker and really just want to finish school so I can start my own business or do more professional sales (which is fun for me). So anyone with connections please help. It is who you know. thanks Thad |

David, I'm just saying that I would go to a UC school, even a bottom rank UC school, over any Cal-state school or most private schools. Of course, one should attend the best school he/she can get into. But at a GPA of 3.0, your choices are rather limited. Goodluck. |

Ken - why do you say UCR and UCSC over all the others. I would probably rate Berkeley at the top followed by UCLA and UCSD. My recommendation would be UCLA - great school, great location, tough to get into, great women, great sport, cheap and did I mention tough to get into. Berkeley is even harder to get into - you may have a tough time with a 3.0 getting into these schools. My advice - dont take the easy way out. Get into the best school you can possibly get into. There is plenty of time to make up for it (earnings wise and learning to fly) afterwards. USC is also a good school - $$$$. |

USC is a great school but the location is not ideal and it is a private school (cha-ching). CSUN, while a good school, is only a CA-state level school. If you were to stay in CA and don't have the $20k+ a year, you should go to a UC school. I know it is tough to get into some of the UC schools, but I would attend UCR or UCSC over the other schools anyday. And don't forget the new Merced campus. I would, however, attend USC for their GSM. Goodluck. |

The only reason I would really go back home to Orlando would be to learn how to fly. Other than that I think i would go crazy. They werent bad about the 2 am thing. Yeah, I would be living at home, but I would be able to fly to the Bahamas after I get certified. I also would have a good sales job lined up through dad. So here comes Ferrari sooner. Arghhh I hate decisions. Thad

You're in Santa Monica...you should know the stigma attached to the valley! Actually, CSUN has a very good business school. A degree from SC, however, should net you a higher entry level salary out of school. As for the 10 minutes? My parents live out of state. I'm ok with that. Although I phone them every day, they have been harrassing me for three years to move near them. I am 39. I love my parents but I would not be capable of living with the guilt if I refuse my mother's nightly dinner invitation...along with the, "Where were you 'til 2:00 am last night?" DL |

Lots of money to be made on the 3rd street promenade...if you can play the saxophone..LOL Seriously though... As for CSUN...avoid the "818" at all costs! SC has prestige. I wouldn't have lasted 10 minutes with my parents after I left home. DL |

I know there are a lot of succesful and intelligent people on the board so I am asking for some input on what to do. I have no idea, so I would love to have another opinion. I will have my AA at the begining of the year so it will be transfer time. The question... is transfer but to where? I have a 3.0 GPA and I am attending Santa Monica college currently. I am a business major. Here is what I am thinking so far let me know if there are some other options. In no particular order.... 1. Transfer home to University of Central Florida live at home with the parents. Dad has offered to pay for private pilots which is really cool so we can hang out and fly together. Other than that I would be back in Orlando, have possible sales job lined up with ADP things would be easy. 2. University of Southern California. Great School. Great Name. Tough to get into. Would love to do that. 3. Cal State at Northridge. I havent visited to campus so I dont know if I would like it. I would have to commute.Good b-program though. 4. University of Miami. Good school. Miami looks like fun. So, what do I do? Move back home and learn to fly while getting an education. Stay in LA which is great. Go to Miami. Help me out F-Chat I know someone can help. thanks Thad |
