Ricky, Amazon seem to be one of the cheapest for cannons at the moment, the only thing I didnt like about my Ixus was that it only came with a 16mb, soon changed that for a 1gb ordered from the US it was 75% of the UK price! |

Ricky - I think the g3 and g5 are very similar (even looks wise). The G5 has 5MP vs. the G3's 4MP. The G5 was just recently released. |

Nikon D100. 6.1 megapixels. 1 Gig microdrive. Light, well balanced. User friendly. Great PC interface. The only thing I don't like is it sucks batteries like there's no tomorrow. |

Canon S230.. it's pretty small and has good image quality. i would recommend the S400 though - - 4.0 megapixels and even smaller. |

Sony CD250. My folks went to Europe and took well over a thousand pictures with their camera which uses a memory stick. They had to lug their laptop around. Didn't appeal to me so I got the CD250, which uses mini-CDRs/CDRWs to store pictures on. Each disc holds 156 MB. |

Sony Mavica FD-91 with 14x OPTICAL zoom (NOT software zoom, optical). I bought it for the zoom and the fact that it uses floppies so I can shoot a couple of quick pics in the studio and dash down to use them on the website. All the pictures of "objects" on our websites are taken with it. Bought it... uh... 3 years ago or so, for around $ 1200 at Wolf Camera in NC, have made well over 10,000 pics with it and only had to buy a new battery once. It is completely outdated by todays standards but, hey, as long as it still shoots pics like this of a 4 inch slotcar, who's complaining? Increasing the resolution will only make the graphics heavier on the sites which I don't want. Jack

Depends on what you want.... For an inexpensive introduction to digital photography the Fuji Finepix 2650 is a nice choice. 2 megapixels, 3 power zoom, can do short video clips, and can be found for around $150! |

I love my Kodak LX400 EasyShare. It's my first digital and it seemed to have the best compromise of chassis size, technology, user-friendliness and price. |

My dad bought a Canon G3 a couple of weeks ago...its a great camera, a lot of features, great quality...unfortunately, he dropped it (according to him, the first time hes ever dropped a camera)...the lens motor is busted (or so we think), cameras gone in for repairs... |

I love the Sony P5 I bought a couple years ago. 3.2 mp. I don't have any reason for anything above 3.2 as that will make a photo quality 8.5 by 11". Small enough for pocket, nice zoom, screen, and accepts Sony memory chips which are expected to hit 1-2 gb before too long. However, my 128 chip is much more than I need. The battery needing charged is my biggest problem. |

Jack - The G3 has a new quick-release bayonet removable lens ring (on front of Camera). You simply hold the ring release button and turn the ring anticlockwise. Once removed the standard lens ring can then be replaced with the LA-DC58B Conversion Lens Adapter which provides a 58 mm thread onto which you can mount one of the available optional lenses. |

Ricky, I thought the same way you do and just purchased a Fuji S2 Pro DSLR, which I absolutely love. It took only about ten minutes to get used to the interface, and the pictures it takes are stunning. There was a recent price break on it, which took it from around $2200 to $1800, making it a relatively good deal. I have no complaints about it, and really can't give it enough praise. |

David said it. My theory has always been if you want a good camera, buy one made by a camera manufacturer. I've always used Canon, but Nikon is excellent too. I use the G3 as well and love it. I just picked up a 128meg card for it at CostCo, and it holds over 200 photos on the highest resolution setting. By the way--how do you change lenses? |

Ricky - There was a thread on this within the last 2 months. If you do a search you will find it. I bought a Canon G3 in December 2002. It is great. I was not quite ready to get an SLR and was deciding between this and a Nikon 5700. The Canon's battery life is amazing - I hardly ever charge it. You can change out lenses. It has many features - you can set almost anything manually or just go automnatic. I find 4MP to be more than enough - I dont even typically use the highest quality, unless I want to enlarge the shots. The quality is excellent. If you are looking for the best - I think Nikon or Canon are it. |

I opted for the Olympus. I wanted a camera from a company that knew how to make lenses since the 35mm days. While I used a Canon F1 in the old days, Olympus had tons of electronics back then, too. .

I have a Sony Mavica I bought three years ago for a grand. Its fast for a pic on a floppy, byt the resolution is low (Vs 3-5MP's that are out today). I am shopping for a 3-5MP unit. I like the new 5MP sony. |
