Moore is a bloated bag of hot gas. Nothing more. It's best to simply ignore his fat-a$$, and let him wither away and die like a flaccid beached whale. |

Please, I know those types of kids first hand possibly more than anyone else on this board. I am quite young myself. When I was in High School, I was one of those kids. I didnt listen to the mainstream rap BS, I wasnt a prep, nor was I a nerd. I skipped class, smoked pot, drank, I listend to marylin manson, dream theater, korn, cannibal corpse, the list goes on and on... all my life I was disrespected beat down and I was never somebody. I've had a friend commit suicide and I thought about it as well.I know these people first hand becasue I'm one of them. Believe me it would have been a great feeling to blow away half of the people who pissed me off in school, but I wasn't that stupid or sick. No matter how disrespected anyone could be youre still very sick if you can put the barrel of a shotgun to a girls head and ask her if she believes in god before you pull that trigger and paint the floor with her brains. I have no bleeding heart for those murdering psychos because they dont deserve it. I draw all my conclusions from life experience. |

I think I have to react to this thread. I think I'm one of the few people here who did not take a negative stand behind the movie. Maybe because I'm not American like most people here, maybe is it because I'm young, I don't know, but I want to point out the following point: This film is meant to find a reason why those kids did this. Now I must say that I'm not a fan of the way everything is pointed out, but they try everything what it could have been. And the final conclusion is that the fact that they were bowling before they did this, could have been the reason, just like they listened to Marilyn Manson, or that they were hated at school. This film points out that there is not a simple single reason why people do these things. Sorry Sonicmedia, but I have to react to your post
Those kids were just as sick as any of the serial killers out there
The reason why these kids did this is way off the scale of serial killers. These kids were treated as garbage on their school, just because they were alternative. It is not about drawing attention to themselves, it's a scream for attention... Just like some people say that people who kill themselves are sick. it makes me wanna buick. Do you have ANY idea what it takes for a normal mind to change into a mind that's so up? It takes a long time, a long time in which that person does not get the attention that ir deserves. So please do not tell me that these people are as sick as serial killers, because those people have total different reasons to do the things they do. Wait until you meet somebody with such ideas like suicide, and listen to their story, and then think again before you EVER draw such conclusions again. |

ever since the incident at columbine everyone has been trying to point the blame at someone else when in reality it was right in front of them. Those kids were insane, plain and simple, every child's not gonna snap and go on a murdering rampage just because they see something on TV, in games or hear it in music. Those kids were just as sick as any of the serial killers out there, not only that but this could have been stopped by responsible parents, I mean come on, if you can't notice a pipe bomb on you son's dresser or a bunch of weapons in the basement then your doing something wrong. People keep trying to point the blame because if they see somehting changed as a result of their accusations they will feel a sense of relief in order to try and cope with what happened. They feel this relief because in their mind this change may prevent it from happening again when in reality there wasnt much that could have been done to stop it to begin with. Moore probably knows this and just wants to cash in on it. He wants to make allot of money and look like a god on earth in the eyes of these people. More simply put, he wants a fat wallet and an ego boost. |

Sometime ago, I also cited the hardylaw.net link in an altogether different forum. I Did so because the movie was being hailed as a factual documentary by all comers. Strangely, that active thread fizzled after Moore's uh, disciples couldn't uh, respond to the hardylaw facts without being made to look like chumps. |

I found it thought provoking too, though I was terribly disappointed to discover how much he fooled with the facts. It took some weeks to orchestrate the gun pick up at the bank, to cite one case, and harrassing poor Clark was just embarrassing. Nevertheless, reactionary histrionics aside, some of his points stand: we are a nation of fear, for example. For 19 years growing up in NW New Jersey, the only times I can recall locking our door was when we were going on vacation. More often than not, we had trouble using the key! These days, I can't believe how many people have full blown monitered alarm systems in their homes just so they can feel safe sleeping at night in a neighborhood that hasn't seen so much as a garbage can tipover for as long as anyone can remember. |

Interesting link. Working in the film business, there is no doubt as to the power of editing and the effect it can have...Director Peter Weir began working in TV News and said that simply through the editing of interview footage, he could turn the subject into a tyrant, a hero, and everything inbetween. I seem to be in the minority here, but I found Bowling for Columbine very thought-provoking. Even if one doesn't agree with Moore's conclusions, I feel he does raise some interesting questions (and that's assuming I can trust the statistics and information he's presenting me with). I tend to agree with Moore that we live in a fear-based society as pushed through our news/media. I may not agree with all of his views, but again the questions seem valid - Why is there such a disparity between the U.S. statistics and much of the rest of the civilized world? (again, assuming one can trust what they are presented with) In my mid-20's, I discovered Manufacturing Consent by Noam Chomsky, and it really opened my eyes. It's interesting, as I'd always viewed Moore as someone exposing these "Chomskian" distortions of truth - from what I read below in the link, he now seems guilty of the same. |

The entire film should not be classed as a documentary...sci-fi would be more apropriate as it's a fraud and a sham like Moore himself. He's merely preaching to the converted as no one in their right mind could possibly fall for something like this upon closer examination.

Just watched this piece of S**t. Moore should be driven down to South Central in the middle of the night and dumped so he can really see how dangerous America can be. He goes into a dangerous area in daylight with a full camera crew and does not get attacked. WOW.. what a shock. According to his very liberal slanted view the school shootings were the fault of everyone from the NRA to nightly news. HE also manages to work in that making people on welfare work causes them to not be home to take notice that their kids are doing bad things. What an A**hole. Gee.. thats right.. let's make sure that some unwed black welfare mom can stay home. Thats much better for the economy. He even attacks Clark ( of Bandstand) and Kmart. Clark because the welfare mom had to work in his resturant as part of a program to pay for goverment support and Kmart for selling bullets. |
