From awhile back:

If you're REALLY thinking Big Picture, you should pick up the book "Visions" by Kaku. George Miller had us read it when doing research for a film set in 2030 and it is truly fascinating. The book was published in 1997, but looks at where the next 100 years will take us in all aspects of life. The book is based on interviews for his weekly radio show in which over 150 of the top minds in their respective fields contributed thoughts and ideas.

For an automotive book, I recommend "Prince Borghese's Trail: 10,000 Miles over Two Continents, Four Deserts and the Roof of the World in the Peking to Paris Motor Challenge" by Genny Obert who sadly passed away recently. She often wrote for magazines on Italian cars so I'm sure you've all read her work before. The books is a lot of fun. Here's a synopsis: http://www.autodiva.com/pbtsyn.htm

You can get it through Amazon of course but best way would be to order through her husband's business. http://www.fiatplus.com

If you guys want some great automotive-related literature check out BS Levy's books, "The Last Open Road" and "Montezuma's Ferrari". Very entertaining.

DES you mention 911. I was reading about US knowledge and lack of intervention in the sinking of the Lusitania, Attack on Pearl Harbor, manipulation and cause of the great depression and some other events as well.

Made me wonder what, how much and when we knew about 911. Would we be willing to let that happen to advocate war or whatever we are involved in? Perhaps they didn't know exactly what was to take place or that is would be that severe, but it makes me wonder.

I also don't think we'll ever leave Iraq. We haven't left Saudi Arabia, Kuwait or any other place we have invaded. We keep troops there for "peace keeping" duties.

Imagine having a democratic country right in the middle of a non democratic MidEast. Talk about great positioning for leverging your socialist agenda.

i'm in the middle of Rule By Secrecy right now; pretty good book with information i've already seen in other books...

Behold A Pale Horse was great; America, The Illuminati 666 (Parts I & II), The Isis Papers and some book on Bush i mentioned a few months ago are pretty good... As others have mentioned, you have to take everything with a grain of salt, but the material is pretty tasty mentally, regardless... It makes you wonder...

Got something in the mail yesterday regarding conspiracies/our current thief in chief/9-11 and all sorts of other ... It's very unique and i can't wait to explore it when i have some time... i'll take a picture of it and post it when time permits... :-)

"Rule by Secrecy" by Jim Marrs. Not a bad book, except for the conclusion that the "Anunaki alien overlords" rule the universe. The stuff on secret societies is pretty thorough, though. Don't know how credible the references are. Some critics have said he quotes conspiracy theorists who erroneously cite from other works. Can neither confirm nor deny that. In any case, it's an easy read and readily available in paperback from any bookstore (probably used bookstores, too).

Anyone still stuck in the 80s? I still blame my parents for the fact that I wasn't old enough then(I'm 22 now), so I could have been of the right age when Milken et. alia were in full effect. I'll move on to LTCM, etc. soon. :-)

Jim: I've got a whole score of book suggestions for you based on the topic you like. I will send you a list when I get home.

UH,OH, then you boys have got to read Rule by Secrecy, author named Marr. Takes you from the Bildenbergs and Trilateral Comm. back to the FreeMasons, the Knights Templar, on back to Egypt, and pre-Mes. societies, where we learn that the "big secret" is that aliens were here.

I'm finally getting some time to read Fast Food Nation by Eric Schlosser. Of course one must take any statistics it quotes with a grain of salt but it does a good job of explaining the history of the industy and how it has changed our country (economically, agriculturally, legally, employmentally -yes i made that word up -, and of course our health) and does so without the usual liberal whining (of course there is a lot to complain about in the world but whining is never constructive).

One thing I have noticed in all the books are teh names of the behind the scenes guys of each president. Some basically use the pres as a puppet, mouthpiece and got them in office.

I haven't gotten any names on current presidents though. Who was behind Reagan, Bush Sr., Clinton and Bush Jr.?

Who is pulling thier strings? Where does the money flow to? All the others flowed right to the Int'l bankers...JP Morgan, Rockefeller, Carnegie, Rothschilds and others. Wars started or joined basically to create or save loans.

Rothschild formula: create a constant state or fear of war to endebt the country to you. Fund both sides so whoever wins you have a political say in the new system.

I agree, Jim. Some of the stuff that filters in is pure bunk (UFO's/Aliens/Mystical/Magical stuff). But it's hard to argue with the notion that a small group of people who are all interconnected through businesses, government offices, etc. exert an inordinate amount of influence over what happens in the world. Just look at GHWB and GWB and their Gulf Wars I & II.

Thanks for the offer, but I hate loaning books as they never return and I would hate to "lose" yours. I can order used copies on amazon for pretty cheap. Heck at half price books I paid $3.98 and $4.98 for the ones I listed.

I love these conspiracy type books. If you can weed out the authors' bias and not take everything too literal you can get a great view of the big picture.

Jim et al.

Have you read "None Dare Call It Conspiracy"? Similar topics. Also 2 volume history of the Rothschilds. Very academic (I think it was someone's PhD Dissertation - Niall Ferguson's), and very pro-Rothschild, but interesting nonetheless.

Another thread got me to thinking. What books are must reads that you have read and why? Here are two of my latest.

The Creature from Jekyll Island by G. Edward Griffin. About the creation of the Fed Reserve and the nations money supply. A must read for anyone who borrows or owes money.
and
The Shadows of Power: The Council on Foreign Relations and the American Decline
by James Perloff
The CFR is a silent powerful organization on foreign policy. Hidden agenda is world socialism.
