Jon, Yes, I am back. The school was actually really enjoyable. I really took to those cars, and, once I figured out how to really drive them, I was by far the quickest guy in the class. Had a wonderful time. Weather generally cooperated, except for the end of the 3rd day, when we got a 2-hour t'storm of biblical proportions, which ended the class. As for VIR: it was simply stunning!!! The most beautiful course I have seen (although they say Barber in Birmingham is as good or better). HOWEVER: unfortunately, I was misinformed---we onlyused the South Course (1.65 miles). Granted, there was a lot of elevation change...but it was not the full course. Apparently there was a Keith Code motorcycle school on the North Course, and somehow Panoz in Atlanta did not pick up on that fact.... But no worries--the South was plenty fun! We only had 6 students, and 4 instructors (which were joined by Panoz Chief Instructor Joe Foster & World Challenge driver & Panoz instructor Charles Espenlaub for 2 of the 3 days). So lots of seat time & instruction!!! Thanks again for your tipe & suggestions, Jon! -Dave |
