Can you elaborate on the Shark Injector? I don't see any mention on his website....Jim is a nice guy, he even offered to take the governor out of my DME for free if I sent it to him...but I really don't want the down time....and am not too comfortable with ripping the thing out either.

I believe Jim's products are superior to the Dinan based on my BMW owner friends...but like the idea that I can go to the dealer, and not have any warranty issues with Dinan. I just want to make sure I am not accepting any major negatives with the Dinan software upgrade...I'm not out for every last bit of performance or hp, just want to get rid of the governor.

I don't believe Jim Conforti has anything for the 540, and I don't really wish to lose the down time with shipping my DME....

The nice thing about the Dinan, is I can go to the local dealer...

I have used Dinan's stage 4 (?) flash upgrade on my 1997 M3, along with a shielded cone air filter, larger HFM, and removing the ASC hardware & 2nd throttle butterfly, pluys a Supersprint exhaust. I have not dyno'd the car...but it sure pulls like a mofo, and i can walk down 993 Porsches all day long!!

I recently purchased a BMW540ia and am annoyed that it has a governor set at 128mph. I want to keep the warranty in effect, so the dealer suggests the Dinan engine management software upgrade for $500. This claims to reprogram fuel and ignition mapping to gain around 8hp, and unlocks the governor so the car is free to hit whatever the top end is...150?...155? ...I don't really need it, but want the "bragging rights" (hey, I'm being honest...). They also claim improved gas mileage at part throttle...so my question, has anyone an first hand experience with this, and are there any negatives?

Thanks
