Aldrich Aimes received a life sentence for revealing names of CIA operative in Russia.
Fingers are pointing to Karl Rove as the source; Rove was fired from Daddy Bush's campain in '92 for leaking a story to Novak.
I guess it depends on just how 'covert' she was - not all 'spies' are really in deep cover, they know who the other guys are and visa-versa, its more of an open cat and mouse game.
But if she was deep cover and this revealation could have had dangerous or fatal consequences - then a double execution, or at the least life terms, are called for. |

Looks like no one has brought this up yet, but I'm interested in getting some of your opinions on this story.
Cliff notes version: Amb Wilson writes a report that's critical of the intelligence and Bush policies that have led to the current situation in Iraq. A week later, Bob Novak releases an article that reveals that Wilson's wife is a CIA operative working on finding WMD in Iraq. His info apparently came from either senior white house officials, or just "senior administration officials" depending on who you talk to. Wilson's wife is subsequently yanked from Iraq since she's been outed, as her careers takes a massive detour. Naturally, Wilson is pissed and suspects foul play.
Question: WHAT THE F*$% is Novak thinking? According to other sources, the leakers called 6 other reporters, who had the good sense to tell them to piss off. Novak went through with the story, even after calling the CIA to confirm his info and being told to NOT reveal the CIA operative's name. His excuse was that "they told me not to reveal her name, but it didn't sound like they thought it was something serious." Should Novak be brought up on charges? Who really leaked the info? Why does Rush Limbaugh think it's a left wing conspiracy? Opinions?
