Dave those pics rock !!

Art: Oregon will not work for the middle class.
As always they are going to take it on the
chin. Yes; that is the father who makes 50K
a year in Calif and has a wife and children.
That works just great for him when it comes
time to purchase a new Ford Truck. AZ and
NV never looked better.

You cannot tax the citizens of a State to create
wealth. It does not work.

Jerry, I was wondering if you got your car yet. Let us know how it is when it gets there.

Sucks big time - My 328 is getting delivered tomorrow - I went to the DMV on the 30th (it was a zoo), but they won't let me start the registration for an out of state vehicle without it being there.

It isn't a big deal. The tax is going away, no matter what happens in the election. For the intrim, think about Oregon.

JScott & Ralph are right.

And for your new 3x rapage fee, you get to fill your Ferrari with 91 octane SWILL at a 50 cent premium, too, thanks to Davis' allowing of a refining/distribution monopoly in that state. Oh, and I hope you also like those great electricity rates Davis & cronies also negotiated for you for the next 30 years, too.

BOHICA, Kalifornia taxpayers!

They all want your $$$$$$$$$$$$$$

Amazing that only in gov't beaureaucracies
do they ever come up with a "3X" increase.

In Houston they decided to try for a
300% increase in the school tax a few
years ago. They settled on a 134% increase.
That is so reasonable. I suppose these libs
are just jealous of socialism.

Property Tax is comparatively low, but Gas is 50 higher a gallon than most anywhere in US. That 50 gouge came about after Davis's ill-advised buy on energy after a few rolling electrical blackouts. (Bustamante co-sponsored the legislation on the electricity blunder).

I would argue that it just isn't the result of a poor economy but instead, the financial problems in this state are more the result of gross overspending. In the days of a flush treasurery, the liberal state legislature inacted more entitlement programs than could ever be resonably sustained. Once inacted, these programs become somehow sacred. The answer is not an increase in the taxes we pay, the answer is in cutting spending! Regardless of what the political goofs are saying, Bustamante, Huffington, Davis ect, the people of this state are grossly overtaxed. Income tax is 9%, property tax is high, sales taxes average over 7.5%, vehicle taxes are high, and the list goes on. Spending must be cut, taxes lowered and controls put in that will restrain the legislature's spending. Only then will this state regain financial stability. It is too simple to blame the budget mess on a bad economy, the problems are more systemic in poor financial controls and lack of responsible spending. I love this state but am disgusted with the Sacramento political hacks.

The "car tax increase" is the result of legislation signed by Governor Wilson. In the halcyon days of the dot com era, the state treasury was flush and Wilson decided to slash the vehicle license fee (VLF) by two thirds. However, the legislation to reduce the VLF stipulated that if other state tax revenue was unable to compensate for the reduced VLF revenue then the original VLF would be restored (ie, the reduced rate would be tripled).

What you're experiencing now is the result of that clause in Wilson's legislation being triggered by the lousy economy.

Just saw a news story from a local Ford dealer that normally closes at 9:00pm. They are staying there until at least 2:00 am to wrap up deals (dated 9/30).

What a mess!

Can anything be done about the increase in cost to register a car in California. It seems that in a few days, the fees will be 3 times more to register a car in sunny California. Is it legal what they are doing.
