My friend is a bartender at a small, but pricey bar in a cozy little town in SoCal. One of his regulars is an older black actor. I won't say his name, because I don't know if he'd appreciate being mentioned without his notice, but he had this to say about it:

It's true! He wants badly for there to be a successful black QB, but he thinks McNabb is completely over-rated, and that the sports media is fawning over him simply because he is black. He thinks it's a shame, and wishes that the media would report on an athletes abilties regardless of race.

I thought it said "Bush resigns." I was shocked and awed for a few seconds.

>>Getting rid of people that lie and cheat and influence by false statements and intimidate is a good thing I don't care which party they belong to.<<

Martin, of course your right in principle and hopfully practice but you have to admit that gets rid of an awfull lot of people like most but not all of congress, past presidents, lawyers, stockbrokers, politicians etc etc. We must keep searching for people of honor but life in many cases is making the best of bad choices or people. Bush is no prize and in many respects dissapointing but in my view still better than the available alternatives. :-)

Didn't American patriot Patrick Henry say something like, "I may not agree with what you have to say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it"?

We teach school kids these great American ideals which are based on the First Amendment Right of Freedom of Speech. Apparently in this sickening age of political correctness, nobody thinks that Rush Limbaugh should be allowed to say what's on his mind,...even though he was hired for his well known history of opinionated commentary. The same could have been said for Jimmy the Greek's statements years ago on CBS. And the same could be said for baseball player John Rocker(sp) who voiced his opinion about New York in an interview with a magazine reporter who WANTED to hear what he had to say. And after his anti-New York remarks appeared in print, everybody wanted to hang the guy. Who took the time to stand up and say, "He's an American and he has the right to voice his opinion."? And baseball team owner Marge Shotz(sp) who made racist statements that later came back to haunt her. But once again, as Americans, Rush Limbaugh, John Rocker, Marge Shotz, and any other Americans have the right to voice their opinion, whether anybody else likes it or not. The politically correct left wing liberals would not only DENY them the right to voice their opinions, but gleefully attempt to seek retribution against them for doing so by trying to have them fired, fined, or ridden out of town on a rail. That sort of activity is far worse than the original offending statements could ever be.
It's just a shame that Rush, and others who have been railed against, did not stand tall and hold up a copy of the First Amendment as defense against all of the politically correct naysayers.

Lets get the facts here:

Rush L is an a*shole, there is no question about that!
McNabb is definetly overrated, no question about that.
Is McNabb overrated because he is black? very likely yes.

Should Rush take his hat for saying what is actually true? No, although I am still glad he is gone!

Lou are you paranoid....I will not answer that :-) Getting rid of people that lie and cheat and influence by false statements and intimidate is a good thing I don't care which party they belong to.

McNabb is overrated! Ever since he signed that huge contract for 38 Billion dollars or whatever it was, he hasn't done much at all. I'm sick of seeing him in commercials and ads too! I don't care what color he is. I'd like to punch him!

Sorry. I'm just a disgruntled Eagles fan and I needed to vent. I'm all better now. :-)

what if he said - he is an underrated QB, the press does not like him because he is black - people would praise him for saying it

Lou:

How did those guys put the words in Rush's mouth. They must be really good. Please let us know your thoughts about the tri-lateralists also.

As to what Limbaugh said: it would have been alright if he'd left the racial comments out of it. There are a thousand other reasons why the press could like McNabb, one of which is that he's a pretty good quarterback when healthy.

Lou B...you are right IMHO.

Rush was bang on in his opinion and nothing was wrong with what he said. Who cares what the guys skin color was.....he could have been a white guy in a different sport.

If you want something to laugh about Foxnews has a section on the front page of their website about the "PC Police" every 2 weeks or so. It's hilarious...and sad.

I heard the comments and reply.
Mr L. should have stood his ground and the network should have backed him up.
The PC police are de facto taking away our first amendment rights.
This is all so pathetic.

Methinks the severity of the "outrage" directed at Limbaugh's comments was mostly because the PC a$$clowns know he was right...

its funny that the politicans seem keen to jump on this, do they do the same when some ex player says something similar? Its like they view Rush as a fellow politican when the guy is a talk show host

Anyone detect a trend here? Smearing of top republicans aimed at eliminating them from power and influence 1 year before the election? Rush/pills, Bennent/gambling, Rove/leaks, Bush/everything or am I paranoid?

Regarding McNabb, what do the stats say? Is he over hyped or not or does PC trump the facts?

Rush Limbaugh in pill probe: Talk radio star had drug habit, maid sez

Drudge has more on it.

i ing hate rush- but i have to agree with the pc bs getting out of hand- have some stones espn- let him have some airtime to elaborate - or have one of the other sportscasters argue with him

if anyone has seen the replay- suprised deion didn;t say anything - looked like he wanted to

wether you agree or disagree- he made some valid points- race plays a role in a lot of things - like it or not - we're not color blind- why is it not ok to say anything about it

i didn't find dusty bakers remarks offensive either and they are directed against whites like myself- he was right-

having everyone in the media walking a tight rope of trepedation everytime they open their mouths or want to state an opinion is no fun for the viewers- nor healthy

i remember a few years back when a golf announcer said women were always going to be inferior golfers because of their breasts- hes right - they get in the way of your swing- if you have small tits thats diiferent
anyways - that announcer gets fired by NBC - lame

What's the world comming too! I am not a big Rush fan and while his comments on McNabb weren't exactly bright he shouldn't have to resign over them.

All this politically correct bullsh*t is getting old.

Everyone is worried about getting their feelings hurt. People need to get over this crap.

All he said was that the media wanted a black QB to succeed what's the big deal. I happen to agree that McNabb seems to get a lot of air time and has yet to win anything. Brad Johnson won the Superbowl last year and he ain't doing any Chunky's Soup commercials, ain't on any cereal boxes, and hasn't been invited to participate in any NFL talkshows or been host of any MTV or VH1 shows.

I pull for the best QB's regardless of their skin color but McNabb seems a bit overhyped in the past season.

Anyway, hope you all don't ask me to resign from F Chat for my politically incorrect statement about McNabb.
