I have a 93 Grand Cherokee beater. Bought the car in 97 with 80K miles, today has 135K miles, no more AC and drives like a new one. Midas gets pissed at me because they have to replace the brake pads on lifetime warranty so they lost alrady money on me |

ty, look for stress cracks in the unibody around door hinges, look for the rear main seal leaking between the engine and tranny, I6 certainly has more power than the 2.5L I-4, piston slap at idle and low RPM's is normal, every XJ(Cherokee) has it. I'd say 91 and up are the better years, but if your going to use it off-road, consider an 87, because many of them have Dana 44 Rear axles instead of the boat anchor Dana 35. For street use the Dana 35 will hold up fine. Also they did use 8.25" Chrysler axles in the rear, they are stronger than the Dana 35. that's all I can think of off the top of my head. We got lucky with this one... only 83K original miles, where most are over 100K. |

Weight probably is all in the nose because of cast iron block and heads... Along with the front Axle. I know the 80's Cherokee's used Alfa or Peugeout(SP) trannies, and had horrid GM V6's. |

Oh my. Isn't all the weight in the nose? I see people sliding all over the snow in those things. Weight distribution is more important than AWD. Dunno about the '93, but the Cherokee is what kept the Alfa Milano from being the least reliable car in the US, in the late '80s. |

Tim, I'm Canadian, had many rainstorms, snow, and the ice storm of 98 when I live in Quebec. |

Tim, rain in Arizona is an oxymoron... I won't go crazy with a lead foot or anything. There is a sweet 88 GT Vert at school... LX was the only model with notchback available, there was also an LX vert too. |

Stangs are nice, but i wouldnt recopmend one for your first car. Drive that accord or jeep for 2 years, the find a nice LX or GT(did they even make GT's in anythng but hatchbacks?). They spin easy in the rain, which is mostly because of their short wheelbase. they do sound awesome though. One of my friends has a 91 GT, almost mint. Alot of stangs have sagging bodies and misaligned panels, but not this one. He has mac headers and an off road h pipe w/o cats, and this thing screams. It also turns because he has it lowered about an inch and put on cobra R wheels.

Our seats are in good shape, but are very comfortable, even more comfy than my dads 98 Accord with more miles on it. Today we ordered the Rubicon Express 3.5" SuperFlex lift kit... this think only has 83K miles, no rebuilds, which is a very low mileage XJ... Tim, when I get my permit I will drive the Jeep, Honda and probably my own car...(90-93 Mustang Notchback with some goodies on a 302). |

Patrick; Nothing wrong with one of those. I had an older one that had well over 200,000 miles on it when i sold it. Talked to the new owner last week and he say it is still going strong. Have fun. rob Guess "The other Rob" |
