M.J. I'm going to have to go with Mike on this one. Buy bulk and distribute unless you have some sort of technology that is better than what is currently in the market. My company supplies to companies like 3M in size, so making anything in a small capacity is unfortunately out of the question. If approached properly, 3M or the like, will even let you rebrand as your own product. Except in some corner of the box it will say 3M on it. You'd have to pick up the tab on packaging though. MJ, If what you need is just like that film, why not buy that film? 3M makes it, as do others. It's a urethane sheet and I believe it may actually be clearcoated, or at least made from layers consisting of protective and adhesive layers. The 3M stuff's trade name is "stongard". I have a roll of it in the office - not cheap, I think I paid $100+ for a 12" by 96" piece or so. The stongard stuff (and the others like it) are generally pre-cut on a vinyl cutter and then applied to the surface to protect. The problem with protecting against curb rash, is you would need something much more substantial IMO than a plastic film. Even 1/4" lexan (polycarbonate) probably wouldn't protect the wheel getting gouged by someone who rolls too close to a curb, because the forces involve to "bounce" the whole car off would be pretty strong. For rock chips and fading, it may work though. There are a ton of shops who sell Stongard and it's competitors. It's easy to buy from 3M in bulk rolls, so I wouldn't worry about finding any sort of "plastics factory" to make that sort of stuff for you. |

Clear plastic that can flex? as mike said thats a pretty broad question. What do you need the plastic for? There are so many kinds of polymers that there is definately one that has the properties you want. |

I own a few plastics manufacturing plants. What kind of volume are you thinking of doing. We don't handle small orders, but would gladly help if I can do so without affecting current production. Cheers |

Not to hijack, but I am looking for an inexpensive injection-moulding plastics contractor, we need to pot electronics parts in a high-durability inexpensive resin for outdoor automotive/road use. MJ- we'll need more info/properties. How Felxible? How solid? Gas tight? To what pressure? UV fast? |

MJ, I've worked with a bunch of plastics and suppliers of... Can you give some more detail about what you're looking for? Off the top of my head, polycarbonate is very flexible and clear, but $$. Flexible can mean you bend it in half, or it can mean "flexes more than glass". Try www.tapplastics.com www.acrilex.com www.mcmaster.com

Mike, That's kind of a broad question. How thick? How much flex? What temperature exposure range?...etc are questions that come to mind. Can you narrow it down a little? |
