BTW, This Saturday is our last day at this location. We will be opening next Monday (20th) at our all-new dealership in Euless on 183 (Airport Freeway) next door to Grubbs Infiniti and across the freeway from Park Place Mercedes. The test drive routes are much more fun than they will be in Euless and the police are somewhat more lenient. Thought you might like to know. |

What? The XJR placed third? Thats biased, it should have been dead last since they've made no improvements to the car since '98. The new model shed 400lbs, added a 6th gear, stroked it .2 litres and there was still not a single scrap of extra performance was gained. What a joke. RS6 seems like the best thing going at MSRP! |

Doody, I agree that the jury is still out on whether or not it will become collectible or not. The one thing that could help it happen is that it is a one year US production car and the last I heard, there will be about 1,100 brought in this year. It started out to be 600, then went up to 860 cars. Now it is 1,100 and supposedly that is the max number. Still, 1,100 cars for North America for the year is a pretty slim number. We get six cars this year and that is all. The S4's are more plentiful, but much less on the MSRP. I just heard today from a very well placed informant that a local Audi/Porsche race shop is going to campaign three S4s in the GS class with two of them being driven by very well known drivers. It looks as though it will be a real coup to get these two drivers in these cars. I will let you know as more information becomes available, and only with permission to do so. |

RS6's wont be that common. Only 860 are coming to the US each year. Car and driver saw 174mph on the autobahn and tested 0-60 in 4.6 last year. Those are numbers that equal or surpass F355 performance. Now if it didnt weigh over 4000lbs.... |

car and driver did an article a few months back "Deep Pocket Rockets" that compared the RS6, M5, et. al. RS6 0-60 4.4 M5 0-60 4.9 a full half-second faster. in the comparo the RS6 placed first and the E39 M5 second. the new E55 placed fourth (0-60 in 4.3) and the XJR placed third (0-60 in 5.4). fwiw, doody. |

Isn't the RS6 slightly faster than the M5? And the M3 slightly faster than the S4? |

well, for certain it won't be "common" but i think we might be jumping the gun on suggesting it'll be a "collector car". it'd be one thing if they were all pre-sold, but the demand for them is hardly outrageous. the price point was a major mistake, imo. not sure what they were thinking. for sure, they'll all sell, eventually, but they'll never be as "collectable" as a 928 GTS or 850 CSi, both of which continue to decline in value and there's tons fewer in the US. at $70K it would have been a really incredible player. maybe $75K (M5 prices). the last S8 was as or less common than the RS6 will be, and those aren't "collector cars" either. my two pennies. doody. |

The interesting thing about the RS6 is that this is the only year they are going to be produced for the US market. Next year the emission laws change and it will not pass new car emission standards. It will pass for re-inspection when the current ones run out due to a grandfather clause but new ones will not be allowed to be sold in the US after Dec.31, 2003. This could turn into a real collector car. |

Kinda off topic I guess (sorry to butt in on the thread James), but I came across a beautiful black S8 tonight. Not quite the same performance wise as the S4 or RS6, but it's such a damn good looking car overall. It makes the 7-series look like a mutant misfit. |
