I haven't ever asked the price on the Weasel but it is in rough condition. I will take some pics and find out more about it because I'm curious now. Scouts do seem to be available at rock bottom prices with a little looking. My brother loves to buy all this kind of stuff but it's terrible for everyone else because he never has enough space to park all the damn things. |

Mark, maybe they want too much for their Weasel. Or maybe it is butchered up too much. Alot of them were really hacked to pieces. The main problem with Weasels are the tracks. The original design track used rubber coated cables that didn't last too long. A better rebuild is to use conveyor belting and completely rebuild the tracks. As for "what do you do with a Weasel?" What does one do with a $200,000 car? Park it in the garage under a cover an occasionally go to the store for a loaf of bread? That's about as practical as parking a Weasel in the garage. Looks like your brother is SERIOUS about his Scouting. My best bargain during the past few years was a complete early model 80 Scout body with good glass AND a rough model 800 Sport top Scout for $50 for the pair. Gold is where you find it. Now if I could just get my 1980 Scout Terra pickup back together. (had to remove and repair the leaking gas tank.)

Cool, but what the heck does a person do with a Weasel? Go to Military equipment shows and maybe tear up the yard a bit? My local surplus store has had one sitting around for years and it doesn't look like anybody will ever buy it. My brother has a '66 International Scout that is a perpetual project. Right now it's in the process of upgrading to 2 ton Rockwell axles and hydraulic steering.

Yeah, like Sam Walton (another rich dude from the razorback state), he adds a "1" to it in order to seem more like one of the regular peeps, know what I'm sayin'?

Being a working class pauper, all my projects are stored away at this time, awaiting the day when I have a 50 X 100 foot garage or larger. (Can it ever be big enough?) Assorted projects include '66 Corvette, '80 Corvette, '57 Corvette, WWII vehicles like M3A1 Scout Car, Ford GPW Jeep, three M29C Studebaker Weasel amphibious tracked carriers, assorted Forward Control Jeeps, International Scouts, '57 Chevy sedan delivery wagon; the list goes on. Ones that got away: 1957 fuel injected Corvette; 1958 fuel injected Corvette; 1959 Corvette; 1970 Maserati Ghibli coupe for $7500 (intact but rough); a couple of '57 Chevy convertibles that were no great loss because of their ROUGH condition; 1967 Pontiac GTO (sold that one to a family friend). And I even spent quite a few phone calls tracking down a 1970 LS7 Corvette that supposedly was never made, but a friend saw one on the showroom floor of a dealership in 1970 that was special ordered for a local racer. So the tall tale of the LS7 Corvette is not necessarily a myth. The trail went cold on that one, but it is probably still out there.

Arlie says he works at a Little Rock TV station. I know better. Arlie was Bill Clinton's "favorite" limo driver when ol' Slick Willie was guv'nor. Arlie was smart 'nuff to "look the other way" whilst Willie "didn't inhale" and "did not have sexual relations with that woman" du jour...and now Arlie gets 10% of all of the Slickster's book & speaking royalties. Arlie LOVES the Clintons. Arlie drives an F50 and has a Maybach on order. |

Arlie I asked you this question awhile back and you never answered it: what vehicles do you own? What is in your stable, runners, parts cars etc. |
