Doody, off topic but shouldn't your F335 Spider model be painted black in the back for a challenge grill? It's not cool until you do. |

Amir- Apple Cimema HD Display (23" flatpanel) sends power, video, and USB (with breakout on back of the monitor) in one cable. A step in the right direction at least. After that, zip ties and cable bundlers (the slit black stuff you see under auto hoods.) works well too. Best! Ben. |

dale - when you look up "anal retentive" in the dictionary, there's a picture of me ;-) my desk isn't always this clear - just last week i went on a cleaning frenzy and it's actually the clearest it's ever been. i'm not sure it'll stay that way - we'll see :-). doody! |

Doody, I have always suspected that your mental state was, uh, less than perfect. This picture of your desk proves me right. Is your desk always this clean, or is there a pile of junk just to the left of this picture, ha!

Nice stuff. Anyone have any nifty solutions for hiding/organizing the wiring clutter? My keyboard, mouse, and network card are already wireless. That leaves power and video cables, as well as the ever-growing list of firewire and USB accessories--joystick, sketchpad, DVD burner, media readers, WiFi dongle for cell phone, USB printer connections, camera and camcorder connectors, scanner, webcam, speakers, etc., etc. |

Mr Doody, I do a fair bit of metalworking (machining, not the stuff you need done), but from the pic, it is a VERY simple setup. It would require very basic bending and welding, and then get it anodized or powdercoated for best longevity. If you looked in the yellow pages I'm sure there would be lots of "metal fabricators" listed who could easily do this. Anyone decent with a bender should be able to whip up supports in a couple of hours tops. Also, I'm trying to attach an image to this post of a desk I have. It's silver painted aluminum supports with a frosted glass top. It's not clear from the pic, but there are various "options" like a glass 2-nd level top above the original, or a roll-out table/tray thing that is similar to a desk-below-a-desk.

definitely off-topic :-) i'm building a new home office in a few months, and want to upgrade my desk in a number of ways. the trestles you see below are rather unique, as far as i can tell. they appear to be made of 3/8" tubular aluminum. they have a support under the top for that table-under-the-tabletop thing, which i love. i bought these at a store called "conran's" (long since out of biz) about 10-15 years ago and have never seen anything similar anywhere since. and now i want to do something a bit weird along similar lines so i assume i'm going to have to have something fabricated. can anybody out there point me in the direction of a shop that might do such stuff? i'd like to have them done in brushed stainless steel or something similar. i need two end pieces, one piece to support a long glass run, and one "corner" piece, to be designed creatively :-). any pointers appreciated.
thanks, doody. |
