Ricky,
Mid way between M-Carlo and Nice on the Bass Corniche is La Reserve de Beaulieu-truly the jewel of the Riviera.Small and elegant.Stayed there 12 summers in a row.

What's the price for a hooker in Nice nowadays? A friend of mine is curious.

Ok, I'm curious too.

Ricky: where is jim when you need him? Is the latter hotel the one on cap de nice, with the funicular down to the beach? The Negresco is famous, i think it was recently renovated, but my impression is that unless you paying the larger numbers, you will have a less than interesting room. Do you have to stay in Nice? We used to go to the Columbe D'Or in St. Paul de Vence, utterly charming, relatively cheap, beautiful in a provencal way, with serious modern art and sculture. There were also some spectacular places up in the hills, near Eze, which are usually high priced, but given the time of year, and the downturn in tourism, you might be able to get a killer room with a view of the entire coast for the price of a modest suite in the Negresco. Finally, if you want to splurge, what about the Eden Roc on Cap D'antibes?
