1967 Ford Mustang Fastback GT K-Code. I thought it was going to be a worthless heap, but it was absolutely amazing. Very fun experience. Cheers |

The Mini Cooper was a blast to drive, i didn't think it would be that fun... Same thing with the Porsche Boxster - i knew i'd like it, i just didn't think i'd like it as much as i did... i really didn't the Saturn was much of a car, but it did get me from point A to point B; after a while though, i got used to it, started to get to know it better and better and before i knew it, i was in love with it... i found myself staring at it when i'd come home from a drive or looking forward to leaving the office just to go for a drive... Sure it wasn't a sports car, but it was MY car and i drove the out of it... ...Ok, my therapist thinks i shouldn't post that whole thing about the Saturn... |

I'm not a big BMW fan besides the M3 (E36 & E46) so I have to give "props" to the Alpina Z8. Looks like a suped-up Z3/4, but a lot more exciting to drive. Inteior is a cross between sporty and luxury. |

540i Sport suprised me too when iwent to test drive it. I knew it would be fun and quick, but i never expexted its ~280hp to move it as fast as it did. Some of this could be due to the sportpackages's shorter gearing. The previos S4, 99-01 S4, also lived up to all my expectations when i drove one for the first time last summer. Thats going to be my next car. I had an 01 A4 2.8Q S for a year and a half and that car kicked ass. Theres such an amazing disparity between the 27k base A4 1.8T and the $39.5K 2.8 sport fully loaded one, and then finally the S4, most of the diff. is the interior though between the 1.8 and 2.8. |

Sunny and Jim E, I've always liked the looks of the Jag XK8/XKR. I've never driven one though. I am very curious to know what disappointed you with the car. Thanks. Ron |

I drove a cadilac CTS very fun to drive. Was a very sporty car. Also a BMW 540i didn't think that would be to much fun. But it suprised me with its handleing and speed. |

I found the original Miata to be an absolute blast to drive. It was nimble and the shift feel was so nice and tight! Lots of fun!

Don't laugh....but how bout a beater chevy '85 s-10 with a 2.8 six popper and a four speed, been through two wrecks and fixed, two daughters learned to drive a stick in it, still on original clutch, very rusty but trusty, and runs like a champ with 300,000 miles and still going! I bought this to haul "stuff" for a hundred bucks, and it came with new tires and brakes. It isn't pretty, but I just love driving that thing. People shake their head in amazement that it's still going what with all the panels flapping in the breeze. But last winter on those really cold days after setting for 7 weeks it fired right up and idled like a new car! It has a kind of charm, a good old soldier that you can depend on. Sorry to pollute this thread with this story....just had to tell it. |

I'll second Omar on the Lexus IS300...I went out to visit Bob Bondurant recently in Phoenix and was surprised to learn he had sold his M5 and now drove the Lexus as his daily driver. Lexus had TRD prepare a special version for him. Bob and all the instructors just hammered on the car all summer long in the AZ heat and it never had a single problem. Bob was so impressed, he bought the car. |

Acura TL and Lexus RX300. I didn't expect to like either one, came away pleasantly surprised. Biggest disappointment was a Jag XK8 Coupe. |

Lexus LS430. It is about the best there is in its category...and it was not nearly as soft & mushy as I had expected. |

Tyler - I haven't driven the 03 Cobra, but you took the words right out of my mouth. Don't underestimate the current V8 Mustang, whether it's the GT, Mach 1, or Cobra. I had a 99 Cobra and it was a blast. The one car I drove that unexpectedly really liked was a 2001 911TT. I'm not a Porsche guy, but jeeze that thing was a monster! Also, my dad recently bought a 2002 530i. I was dissapointed that he didn't go for the 540, but after driving the "lowly" 6 cylinder, I was VERY impressed. Fantastic car. |

Ok.....don't laugh too hard....but..... When renting cars while out of town, I have begun to like the following: 1) Oldsmobile Alero - drives fine & comfortable. 2) Kia (I don't remember which one. It looks like a little SUV) - drove great & seemed very practical for crusing around locally.

Well...I just drove the "Bullitt" Mustang that we took on trade for the weekend. The last Mustang I had was a lowly turbo 4 cyl. that I bought new in 1981. You can complain all you want about platform engineering, but this is a different, and quit enjoyable ride. Speaking of exotics however, the honor has to go to the Lotus Esprit V8. While I hardly fit inside the cabin comfortably, the fun of stomping on the loud pedal and commensurate "roller skate handling" made it a blast to rip around in before my back gave out. |

Ill second the Z4...I got to drive one recently and it really isnt that bad for a fun car to toss around. I always figured they were pretty mundane after seeing them so frequently where I live...but they arent bad performers. Also, the 350Z really suprised me. Im not much for asian cars, but after riding on the race track with a professional race car driver in his 350Z that car is awesome! Its performance limits are pretty high as we tested them on the track! However, any car will be fun compared to my lowly Mustang |

I driven many cars over the years that I just knew I would not like. Then I got behind the wheel and was pleastantly surprised. Here are a few on my list, what are yours? Mercedes SL320-I liked it, not as powerful as the SL500, but when I have convertibles I use them for cruising and the 6 cyl. was fine for that. BMW Z4-I hated the looks at first, much preferring the Z3M. Now the looks are growing on me and it is a fun cruiser. Mini Cooper S-Thought the performance would be sickly and weak. Now it's one of my favorite little cars! Corvette C5-having owned a earlier generation model I thought this one would be a joke too. Still has way to much plastic that looks like plastic on the inside, but overall a great looking and performing car for the money. 2003 Mustang Cobra-Don't underestimate this car as I did. Way fun to drive! Very fast, nice looking, reliable, and pretty nice build quality. I'll add more later, I'd love to see what cars surprised you guys. |
