The one thing I like about Honda is they do read
this stuff on f-chat and nsxprime, and are putting
a lot of weight to what the car buyers are saying.

I just heard that Honda has pulled this new car and is
going to do something even more supercar looking for 2005.
They want to impress guys like DES.

the rumor goes that Honda thinks this design is good but
will not be a benchmark car like they want.

I'd be happy with the HSC, hope if they change it, it gets
even more "80's exotic looking". Can't stand all the retro stuff
coming out of car designers now-a-days.

Mark, the NSX is an awesome car, i love it... i'd take one in a heartbeat... But it just doesn't compare with the Enzo - at least not to me...

However, whenever you're in NYC, let me know, we'll go "borrow" some NSXes from a dealership and race them around 'til we get arrested... :-)

Sorry to hear that :-)

Des you...if anyone, certainly know your ENZO's

I was hoping, I finaly found a way to get both of us working-stiffs into Enzo's for 1/10th the price. That way when I move to New York City next year... we can take them out and race each other.

Check back the first time some one bolts an ENZO kit on one of these puppies. Its going to be fun for pennies on the dollar.

i actually DON'T like it the more i look at it, how's THAT for Ferrari favortism...?!?

It's got a nice look to it, but it's too similar to the Enzo, just not similar enough, all at the same time, if you know what i mean... It's almost like some of the lines are round when they should be wedged and some are wedged when they should be rounded...

Mark L. - I'm on Prime frequently and I hope the HSC/NSX kicks butt. I will feel no more offended if a superior successor comes out than a 355 owner when the 360 was introduced. "Bargain basement" prices can be had with anything. I went with a 95 because I had to have a removable top and I got 90% of the benefits/performance/looks of a new one at about half the price.

ever notice how the next generation of any japanese car goes through revolution rather than evolution? maybe that's why a "vintage" japanese car doesn't have the same pinash of a porsche, ferrari, lambo, etc. i'd like to see performance numbers off the new car though, hopefully they stick an engine in that puts out some real power.

Most NSX owners love this car, however, some of us are concerned about the HP. So far they have mentioned a 3.0L, 3.2L and a 3.5L engine. I guess nobody really knows. All have quoted around 300HP which IMO is a major let down. This car needs a 400HP V6 to truly compete even if it is 2800lbs.

I guess we shall see.

Mark, the poll is one thing, browse the actual thread and there are more people that are pro-HSC, maybe not buyers and happy with what they have, but its positive almost resoundingly. Once the numbers come out, those in the happy with what they have camp will pitch their "timeless classic" design if they can afford it.

I think the similar styling cues (to the Enzo and 360) are as much a result of similar aerodynamic goals as they are a tribute to Ferrari's design. And there's certainly no shame in taking inspiration from Ferrari design (who better?)

As for the NSX Prime poll, I think a number of the current NSX owners who don't like it are just a bit disgruntled because they were able to buy into NSX ownership at a bargain basement price and now the illusion is about to end. Remember, the NSX had VERY few styling changes from 91-01. In recent years, a LOT of those 91-93 models have changed hands for bargain basement prices and people have gotten the appearance of driving a $90k car for the price of a new Camry.

It's of course possible to just not like the design, but the split on the NSX forum is suspicious given that the HSC concept is getting overwhelmingly positive feedback nearly everywhere else.

I am interested in this car because they might do
what we wish Ferrari would do with a 360 replacement...
Give us a lighter car!

HP wars are silly. I'd be more interested in a "weight war".
A 12 with huge HP and the weight that comes with it takes away
from the feel that I want. This is were the Murcielago fails.

NSX has always put their 6 against Ferrari 8's and
they did a good job NSX/348 back in 1991.

450 hp with less weight then all the other exotics would be a fun car.

Honda needs to refine their image and make this car "mean." Rip snorting, loud, low-end pull off-the-line MEAN. The car looks good, but I have this sense (based on Honda brand character) it will have a whizzy little engine that needs 14,000RPM to hit 320hp... I really hope it sounds somewhat like a Tubi-ed 360 - a ferocious howl vs. typical Japanese sterility.

When it comes to this type of car, to hell with practicality, I want passion.

Why don't the Japanese make a V12? That's probably a whole other story, but they seem to engineer other engines well.

Ryan that's funny :-)

But Enzo kits would be so easy.
A custom hood with two big air scoops, and new
rear fenders with big square air scoops.

We might see the bolt-on kit out before the car
hits the showrooms.

Sunny, I agree. Hardcore guys are fun when any new car comes out. Both camps won't like it.

I just like the way Honda plays it's cards. Just like Ford and Lambo, they go after Ferrari. But Damn! here they but it so close between the ENZO and 360. Smart Marketing especially since the ENZO created so much demand.

Some NSX hardcore guys don't like it either. The real test will be when performance figures are released and how well it can be tuned aftermarket.

I think its a tad bit less sleek then an Enzo, but a bit more sleek then a 360.

Honda stick's it right between the two models and then sit back and laughs
as Ferrari hardcore guys talk about how bad it looks. LOL

If the final evolves nicely from that and comes with 420hp I'll certainly be trading my 03 in 06.

Not sure if Honda will win new converts (I'd like to think they will!), but this should definitely make nearly all of us current NSX fans happy!

Woohoo!

I like the front and side, the rear is different, but different in an exotic sharp line way. Flat like a 'vette and won't be everyone's cup of tea. Will see if it grows on me as more picture are released and how often I go back to these and stare

Lighter, lots of downforce, a 3.5L that can take some boost, and its going to kick some serious you know what!! Lets hope that it has the same cutting edge balance and refinement that made the NSX famous.

Maybe I won't be buying an NSX soon and saving for this! I don't know what the "next" car will be yet.. this is a new possibility.

This happens every time we change fighter planes.

Honda was very interested in the F-16 Fighter when they came up with the dome shape of the NSX.

Now if you look at our new F22 Raptor... you can't help buy notice some design sharing. Upload

Lets see, if it has 420hp naturally aspirated, throw on a nice twin turbo kit......

Hey DES.... you said you wanted a ENZO

This car will come out at $120k but 5 years after it will be $50k because it doesn't have Ferrari collector value, but will probably have 8/10th Enzo preformance, zero maintance cost, and can be picked up for less then a brake-pad service on an ENZO.

I was always Mad that Ferrari didn't build enough ENZO's, thanks Honda for fixing the problem :-)

(looks like Honda cleaned it up a bit too)

if the s2k can pull 120 hp per liter- 2L / 240 hp - and that was 4 yrs ago

using the same formula a 3.5 would put out 420 hp

why couldn;t they pull it off

wow - 2 people find it attractive - even the discerning eye of allan lambo

regarding your question on the engine- looks like they will use the 3.5 v6 that they currently have in the 3.5 RL
most likely NA- does honda ever turbo charge street cars?

i'm guessing if they could squeeze 290 out of a 3.2 - using technology thats 6 or 7 years old they'll be able to get high 300's out of this one
also expect aluminum and a low weight

the big surprise would be a hybrid electric motor upfront like the dualnote- who knows- the last nsx had a few firsts - including valve timing and aluminum construction

what do all yall tifosi think?- i know most of you thought the last nsx lacked sexiness and soul- what are your thoughts on this one

i'm not an nsx owner or diehard japanese car fan by any means- but i think this car looks stunning

very japanese- but also very sexy- especially from the back

i love the razor sharp styling and simply business look of the interior- gotta love the blue aluminum accents too

just curious to hear your comments
