Here's what bugs me about the argument that it's a natural reaction for fans to reach for playable baseballs. Our seats are in the exact same spot, but along the right field wall. In the 15 years I've sat there (including the previous playoff game) not once has anything like this happened. Everyone in the section is a season ticket holder, and whenever a ball is hit near us, the reaction is, in fact, to lean away so as to avoid such an incident. It was a stupid thing for headphone guy to do, but it wasn't an 8-run gaffe. People have been "what-if"ing this to death, but the fact is we choked as badly as a team can choke, and it's been a huge letdown. |

The team can only blame themselves. Leave it to the Chicago fans to use a true baseball fan as a scape goat for a team that is just a bunch of LOSERS! The best thing the cubs can do for themselves is to flatten their ballpark and build a new one.Get rid of their loser legacy and start fresh.... AND...Dusty Baker. WAY TO GO! Lets just say 'OOPS' and let another national lg title get away. |

The replay shows he was not the only fan trying to catch the ball. Thought D Baker did a terrible job when interviewed after, saying fan was a cause. Man, this guy needs to just say we lost and we are looking to game 7, period. They had no chance, because D Baker can never see when to take out a pitcher until the damage is done. At least I get to torment a former boss(Cub fan) for them blowing 3 chances to clinch. Go Yanks!! |

You cant blame that on the fan. chicago had another chance for an out that was lost bc of an error. Are you telling me you wouldnt try to catch a ball that comes to you? I bet 99% of the fans inthe park would have done the same thing wihtout thinking about the out. |

The trick for the souvenier owner would be to leave Chicago alive at this point.... |

C'mon Arlie. You know that any one of those drunken and unemployed Cubs fans would have done the same. It's a natural reaction for a fan to try and catch a ball, especially a play-off ball. I'm just waiting to see how much the ball goes for on E-bay. |
