Thanks for the Link Faisal. One more question. What manufacturer's engines are put in the TVR's, or are they powered by TVR powerplants?

DES! Swordfish! I have a friend who has been a big fan of TVR for a few years. The whole time he was trying to get me interested in them, showing me pictures, telling me specs, and it just never grew on me, I didn't find them appealing. I mean, obviously I thought they were unique, but, just not my cup of tea. THEN, I saw swordfish, and that completely changed things. Pictures don't do cars justice. To see it actually moving, to hear it, thats something else. And thats just in a movie! Like you say, it would be a real experience 1 on 1 with a TVR.

....What brand of model is it? I may have to order :-)

Mule, something makes me think you, yourself took that picture... Very cool, regardless...

Faisal, Warren's right, you really know your stuff; nice bit of information on the McLaren, thanks for posting that...

Warren, i have a 1:18 TVR Speed 12 at home; the interior puts me in a daze, i can't imagine what seeing a real one would do... Very different, exotic-looking cars... i like the Tuscans, they're nice-looking cars... The car that Travolta drove in Swordfish was a TVR...

Warren,
currently there's no TVR dealers in America and they are not certified for US roadworthiness. So, no Tuscans here, making them extremely rare...

There were only three Speed 12s. The two roadgoing cars have been sold. Last I heard, a couple of months ago, there was one ex-racecar Speed 12 left. That can be purchased and brought into the US as a racecar. But not as a roadcar.

U know ur Faisal. (noticing ur nickname) What do u think of the Tuscan...Im not too familiar with TVR, they are British right? Ive recently become real interested in the Tuscan, and I want to know how rare they are, and if there are dealers who import them in North America (are they even legal). And also the same questions for the Speed12 ( I think thats the name).

You seem like the right man to ask!

Pardon the hijack, but the McLaren picture reminds me of another picture sent to me by a fellow Fiat Multipla owner in England. He was riding in a friends Testarossa when he spotted a Multipla on the motorway, and slowed to catch this shot. Upload

The picture was taken in Massachussetts. The owner of Turner Motorsports, Will Turner, is driving the McLaren. It's not his car, but he looks after it for the owner, who races a BMW M3 prepped by Turner Motorsports as well. He lets Mr. Turner drive his McLarens. Yes, McLarens...at last count he had three! Will took this car and a few others to some BMW gathering a couple of weekends ago.

This is a very, very special McLaren. It's the LM (Le Mans) edition. Only 5 LMs were built to commemorate McLaren's victory at Le Mans. All were painted Historic Orange, the color of Bruce McLaren's racers. The LMs have lots of special touches throughout. They are the fastest versions of the McLaren F1, and an LM holds the world record for the fastest 0-100mph-0. The cars that actually raced at Le Mans were called GTRs, and they were slower due to intake restrictors, etc.

Of the other 4 LMs, 1 is in a collection in Japan, and the remaining 3 are presumed to be with the Sultan of Bruneii.

This is the only LM that has ever been sold on to a second owner.

Definitely my ultimate dream car.

allan,
that's an awesome picture. I love to take side mirror shots like that... so far, have had XJ220, Diablo, Murci, F40, F40LM, and other ferraris...but no McLaren!

where was this taken?
