Byron, there are no other Lambos or 355's on Maui. There are several exotic rental agencies, but they rent Porsches, 308's,348 Spyders, Vettes and Vipers. There are a couple privately owned Ferraris, mostly 308's and 1 360 Spider. Both my cars have only been on the island for about 1 1/2 months. | ||

Next time you are out by Newark International, call Allan over, and hop a flight to the Caribbean. And take Allan with you. I know it's tough to leave the Garden State, but go. Try surfing. Snorkel in clear, warm waters. Have a drink or two. Then talk cars with people who are saving up for Hillman Hunters or 70's era Datsuns. Try to describe your Ferraris and Lamborghinis without using pictures. You will realize how much you have to be thankful for and how much more you have than most of the world. Oh, and as for my opinion on the site, I like it as it is. Yes, it can get very silly, and yes, the personal attacks get old. I've also found that when anyone needs help with anything serious, there are plenty of very helpful people ready and willing to lend a knowledgeable and experienced hand to them. This is what makes the site great. It is fun and entertaining, but you can bet that when you have an problem it will be responded to in short order. | ||

Even if the caps lock key is broken, it is trivial to type in Word, select the typing, press Shift-F3 to change the case, then select the text, switch over to the F-chat window, and paste it. I don't believe it's broken, or that it's too much trouble to go out and buy a $10-20 keyboard. | ||

I think Allan is 50% troll, not 90%. By getting baited easily, and responding to every provocative statement he makes, the people responding to him have created the other 40%. I think of him as a lonely old man sitting typing in his shorts, because he can't understand why everyone is on the beach having fun, not paying him any attention, even though he drives a Diablo or Esprit or 355 as he cruises up and down. Allan, the real point is this: you are a troll, in every sense of the word. You do not participate in this chat room to add useful content... of your 1319 posts, I am fairly certain there are less than a dozen with useful content. I can only think of 2. Instead, you seem to be hell-bent on convincing us that the Ferraris we love suck. However, what you're really doing, which is far worse, is simply getting yourself off by agitating the members and destroying otherwise useful threads (turning them into pissing matches). Note that either way, if you succeed, then FerrariChat dies (or at least is greatly damaged). So, now we have the situation where you are clearly despised on this board, have been asked to go away, and yet you neither go away nor desist in your agitating posts. That only proves that you are either a complete idiot (don't realize any of the above) or a complete a$$hole (realize the above but choose to continue your behavior) or both... you are a troll... and trolls ruin otherwise good chat sites and mailing lists. To the title of this thread, note that Rob cannot really solve the problem of trolls without closing membership to FerrariChat. Kill Allan's account and he'll just open another. Rather, we as a group must handle trolls. But, we are not doing so. You cannot get rid of a troll by yelling at him, insulting him, or educating him. The troll is there to get such attention... so, such things are simply feeding the troll. To get rid of trolls, the rest of the group must show restraint by absolutely, positively refusing to feed the trolls. In other words, if you want Allan to go away, do not respond to anything he says... no matter how inflammatory or stupid. If you feel compelled to not leave some of his comments unrefuted, simply respond "TROLL" and absolutely nothing more. That basically says to everyone, "what he said is BS, ignore it, and do not respond"... but it does not give the troll any satisfaction. The troll will get bored, getting no attention and no arguments, and he'll go off to some other board and start trolling there. Unfortunately, I think some of the other members of FerrariChat actually enjoy trashing "Ellen", and thus they will continue to feed the trolls... and thus, the trolls are here to stay (unfortunately). | ||

Mike550, I don't see it like that at all. Yes, he's abrasive at times, but often he says something that's valid, but anti-Ferrari in some way. People always take that too personally for some reason. He has said he likes the Enzo, but not its price. On a rational basis, that makes sense. He is not too happy with most other marques catching up to Ferrari in looks and performance and doesn't feel that Ferrari can justify its price differential. He also says that people buy Ferrari and pay the price (willingly or out of ignorance) for the association with the F1, even though very little of that is to be found in the roadcars. Right again. I agree he's rude, but then people say that about me too--whatever, I am more interested in hearing whether what I am saying is right or wrong--don't really care about ruffling a few easily ruffled feathers. I feel people lose all objectivity as soon as they are contradicted, and have to somehow have a comeback, whether it's logical or not. You don't have to get provoked, you know. This is a place to chat, not to worship. Each time Allan posts, it's up to you if you want to let him "slide"--it always takes two. | ||

Frankly, all I expect about FerrariChat.com is constructive discussions about Ferraris and relevant exotics cars. Why does every thread ends up in name calling and vicious personal attacks amongst users. I, out of anyone do not take myself seriously (I would be driving a Volvo if I did} and I do have a good sense of humor but I honestly am passionate about cars and I can do without all the crap. Today, I thought was an important day. Woke up early got an email from owners site about the new 612 and posted it on Fchat immediately which started what I thought was avery good and constructive thread.
