DES, Chris,
it's a dirty, filthy job, but someone's gotta do it. There will be some more super-exotic adventures related in the next few months. You have been warned...

Latest issue of EVO magazine has a writeup on it.

I love the car. It's beautiful, fast, incredibly powerful, and machined to perfection. I met a lot of the engineers working on it, and what they told me about how they designed various items or the thinking behind certain approaches was just awesome. I have never seen anything engineered with so much care--not even in a McLaren. The center console and pedals and shift lever are all perfect--but they just hint at the detail and craftsmanship. You just have to see the doors opening--they rotate up and out effortlessly. I think I have a picture of the hinge mechanism.

There were only two things I didn't agree with...the very high whine of the supercharger at 120+, and the very round windshield which is optically perfect, but gives no clue about the car's A-pillar lines. It is beautifully styled, but some detail is lost because the windshield reaches back so far on each side, pushing the A-pillars being very far back as well.

The car is phenomenally fast, and easy to drive at hight speed. It corners beautifully, of course, and it's the only supercar where I have felt comfortable enough to slide the rear out and catch it on my first drive. First, though, I had plenty of demonstration from Mr. Koenigsegg!

It is right up there with the Enzo and the McLaren.

Pics and video from my visit here.

Yes, we dutch aren't the badest with the Spyker :-)

Love this video of Damon Hill driving, although I've seen a better video over here :

Spyker Cars homepage

I agree the Spyker looks nice though the aeronautical theme can be a bit much. The propeller wheels are ok, but the four blade steering wheel seems a little weird. I like the fact that it only weighs 2665 lbs and makes 400hp. Too bad the 360 isn't that light.

Front end looks vaugely Aston Martin-ish to me, it also looks a rather bling-bling with all those shiny bits

Interesting but slightly odd

Steering wheel looks like it came from an old motorboat and how does that shifter work?

You have mail! You can also go to RacingFlix and get a few yourself though it might take a while. There are a bunch of videos that I don't have yet and you can register for free although it is a bit slow.

You have seen the magazine TOP GEAR right? Well it is also a TV show on BBC where they test out all kinds of awsome cars. I added some bits to my post below with a link to RacingFlix. You may also remember that in a recent email I offered to burn a bunch of Top Gear episodes to CD and mail them to you but you didn't respond.

Eric, Mark, i've not seen any Top Gear video for ANY car... Everytime i see the words 'Top Gear', i'm reminded of the only Super Nintendo video game i was able to beat... :-)

I'm guessing the Koenigsegg because I haven't seen a Top Gear test of the Spyker and there is an awesome video of the Koenigsegg at RacingFlix. The interior does look very nice. The wraparound windshield reminds me of the B-2. I think it's a nice looking car though I do agree with Jim G's comment that roof looks like a toilet seat.

Did you see the interior? Isn't it bloody amazing??

I think CVK uses the same CF vendor and part# we buy our cloth from (and the same cloth that Beoing uses for the tail section of the 777 aircraft, good company!)

Faisal has driven one, I'll let him tell his story!

There's an absolutely amazing Top Gear test video of this car. Bloody awesome.

Best!
Ben.

Ok, so i finally saw some pictures of this car and read a brief article on it (DuPont Registry/latest issue)... i guess i'm the last one to catch up on things like this... Anyone considering one or know someone who is...?

Also, rather than start a whole new thread, i just recently saw a picture and read a brief DEScription of the Spyker C8... Anyone planning on picking one these up for a moDESt 85k...? It looks pretty nice... The interior shot left me very intrigued as the shifter looks awkwardly original... Anyone...?
