I'm looking forward to it. I've read they have a total of five days of celebration activities leading up to the re-enactment of the first flight with a Wright Flyer replica. The 100th anniversary flight will be at 10:35am (I think...) and the two candidate pilots will do a coin toss just as Orville and Wilbur did back in 1903. Should be fun. Drstranglove, Russ - it'd be fun to GTG if you gents end up making it out there. P.S. - I think it will be tooooo many miles but I am looking into F-car rental companies in the area for me to make the drive to the outer banks in. Fun!!... but, alas, the $$$ per mile would eat me alive. |

I grew up with the Sikorsky's, Igor's son Nick is like my Uncle. He's a great guy, got me started on cars. He told me that way back when his father just started in aviation, Paris was the place to be. Of course there were no flight schools, no aerodynamic schools, no aviation industry. Nick told me " All the people who survived their machines would gather in Paris to share ideas & experiences " I'll ask him if he's going. I cant make it but I'm sure he'd love to go |

Great idea. I might be able to drive down depending on the schedule. Should be amazing. Would hopefully get me going to start flying again. |

I'm starting to pull together some plans to head out to the Centennial of Flight Celebration at Kitty Hawk (ok, Kill Devils Hill) North Carolina the week of December 17th. Is anyone else planning to make the trip? We could have a mini F-chat get together to talk Ferraris and flying. I'm not even a rated pilot yet but I'm too much of a wingnut to miss out on the centennial. Where are the North Carolina F-chat members with a pilot's license and a notion for nostalgia. Forza First Flight Festivities! Mike |
