What the Mr. Sensitives might want to do is wander into the Full-Figured Gal lingerie section, and hold up a pair of undies. Tip of the Day: A female's Underwear should not be wider than a full-grown* man's shoulders. *(JRV has a special size exemption) |

Ok You guys killed a bit of fun by taking it too seriously.., for the record I used to be engaged to a woman who had an "eating Disorder" which from everything that I have learned (and DID i learn about it)the eating distorder is mearly a physical manifestation of deeper issues that could have come out as obcessive compulsive or kleptomania or many other things. THe issue is not body image or anything having to do with weight but how that person precieves themselves. This girl was skinny but if you asked her she could loose 10 pounds. The first time she said that I was dumbfounded but over the year we lived together after getting engaged I discovered a lot a bout the process of being Body Dismorphic. It has been my experience that this is only the part of the illness that you can see the roots are lots deeper. Now someone please post something lighthearted and lets get back to having a little fun.

I agree. I dated a girl for a while who, as it turned out, had a history of anorexia along with her sister. It was a tough stretch. One of my best friends is 6'7", about 50-75 lbs overweight, drinks and smokes a lot and eats like crap. On top of it, he gets zero exercise. I'm on him all the time, but he just doesn't seem to care. Even with a 3 year-old boy. |

Jack, This woman's problem was anorexia. She felt a lot of peer pressure in high school and the thing is, she was absolutely gorgeous. In retrospect, she could never let go of some of that anxiety. One of the big reasons we broke up is because she wouldn't stop smoking. I know that a big reason she did it was the premise that it would speed up her metabolism or help her not eat as much. That just kills me. I know exactly what you're saying about health. I have a very hard time with overweight people because I have seen how much damage it does when people don't take care of themselves. I have spent much of my life as a professional endurance athlete and exercise and being insanely fit was a part of the job. I know how hard it is to be 4% body fat all the time but I also know that it's relatively easy to be 10% body fat. I would love to tell every overweight person that I see: You don't have to kill yourself to be healthy. Exercise is fun and easy and everyone should make it part of their lives. I didn't want this to sound like it's okay to be overweight, because it's not. Being overweight hurts the person and their family, not to mention the pressure it puts on our health care system. All I wanted to say is that after my experience with this woman, I don't think that it's my place to comment on whether or not people should or should not wear a piece of clothing. If they're comfortable, then they should do it. |

Ryan, was her problem one with anorexia, or over-eating? Many teens develop eating disorders, which are common with teen-related social and psychological pressures. People should be happy in their own skin, regardless of color or shape. But for pure health reasons it bothers me to see grown adults not take better care of themselves. |

In college I dated a beautiful woman who wore super skimpy bikinis. She was about 5'6", a little over 105 lbs, super athletic, and she really made those things look good. Well, one day, we were hanging out in a pool in Puerto Rico when another woman walked by wearing a skimpy suit but she was probably a good 45 lbs overweight. I made some comment that maybe there should be some kind of license making people eligible to wear bikinis and thongs. Well, my girl flipped out. She got really upset about that comment and stated that people should be able to wear whatever they want and not have to care about impressing people like me. We stopped hanging out a short time later (for completely different reasons) but 6 months later I read an article that she wrote in the school newspaper that in high school, she had a serious eating disorder and that although she had overcome it by college, it was something she battled with every day. It really struck me. Since then, I have never made a comment about someone wearing something that doesn't flatter their figure and I never will. More power to the girl in the thong. BTW, I would venture to guess that pic's from England that kind of thing doesn't matter over there. |
