Stan Kaltwasser my teacher in 12th grade when I was 17. He looked past my stupid long hair and 80's rocker dress style. He challenged me and stimulated my mind and when I excelled he pushed me harder always raising the bar yet I knew he was glad of what I had achieved. He made me feel special and valuable when at 17 I felt lost and different. He gave me the confidence to not be afraid to be me and follow my own path, but do good work along the way. |

My Grandfather. For reasons I didn't understand at the time, he tried to teach me to think logically. He introduced me to computers and amateur radio. He didn't just correct me or talk to me without explaining why. He purchased my first x86 PC when I was 14 and told me to learn everything I could about it. Each time I browse F-chat, give computer advice to a friend or relative, or go to work and deal with projects or problems, my success is because of that apitude he instilled in me. He was a genius and a mechanical/aeronautical engineer and a chemist. A philosopher. He co-raised me with my Father. He was a great man who fell victim to Alzheimers. Its because of him, in loving memory, I greet every single day with a smile on my face with the drive to do my best, no matter what it is. |

Good question! Cant wait to read some of the responses. Probably not the answer you are looking for, but all you Ferrari guys are my "guiding lights" and mentors. Cant say my life was at a high point when I first joined this website, but everyone here has been so supportive of me...making me realize that my dreams are possible to accomplish! I get great advice here and learn a lot just by talking with successful people like yourselves. I owe a lot to the people on this great site. So, thanks everybody! |

Neat thread topic Peter. That's an easy one for me. My first supervisor: US Air Force Staff Sergeant Pat R. Pat was an awesome supervisor and a budding leader. He has since gone bootstrap in the USAF and is an officer now. I would follow that guy anywhere, anytime. Neat guy. I often think of him as I conduct my business in my day job and while planning my own company getting off the ground. He had such integrity and self discipline. I'll ask myself in sticky situations -- what would Pat do? |

When I was ten, I hung out at a music store every minute I could. Evelyn was the manager (About 50+ years old). She took a liking to me and I worked there until I was about fifteen. I hid in the shadows listening to her sell pianos and organs. Once she realized how much I wanted to have her skills, she taught the basics of sales. This woman could sell crap back to the fly. At an early age with four+ years of experience under my belt, from that point on, every sale I write, I think of her. She made me a success to this day....Who in your life was similar to the Evelyn I had in mine? |
