Pete, here's the way I look at it... these are just general numbers so you get the big picture:

2004 Expedition $35K
Keep it 5 yrs and sell it for $10K

2004 Sequoia $40K
Keep it 5 yrs and sell it for $25K

So which is the better deal? You pay more for Toyota up-front but the resales are higher down the road because everyone knows it's more reliable. It actually costs less in the long run. Plus the fact, it's not in the shop twice a year for repairs.

I have the Lexus LX450 and I love it. trouble free 68000 miles. Not as big as a Sequoia, but does fit 7 people. Toyota's are very reliable. :-)

you right the gx is built on the 4 runner platform - I did not want a huge truck the GX fits five comfortably and seven if you need it, the 4 runner has a wood dash with all the options and comes out as just as much as the gx. I got the GX cheaper than the guy wanted on the decked out toyota

BobD, I made the same comment to Dan (Bobafet) and he said the entire suspension is completely different (and far superior)--which makes sense considering the price differential.

Peter, we bought one of the first Sequoia's in Dallas... ours is a 2001 "Limited". Now we see them all over the place. It's exactly what I expected, zero problems and very comfortable. It's great, it's a Toyota.

Tom, a GX 470 is a 4-Runner with a wood dash... great vehicle but it's much smaller. The Sequoia is much larger, much more room, much more comfortable (we owned a 4-Runner before this). Sequoia's are even bigger than the Land Cruiser / LX 470. I'm very pleased and plan to keep our Sequoia a long time.

I have a 2002 Explorer where I can see things are going to start falling apart. I have seen the Sequoia on the road and they look pretty nice. Just seeing if any member owns one and how they like it.
