Sorry to see that I was left on the cutting room floor: eccentric multi-billionaire who spends all his time on internet Ferrari bulletin boards but is too cheap to actually buy a Ferrari. Most of my fourtune is invested in atomic research laboraties that spend their time trying to solve the age old problem of how to turn a rubber ball inside out without cutting it.

Well...since Monday night Football is not even close. I watched "Born Rich". All the girls seem to be adjusting just fine to being born rich and able to shop all they want. The boys (or young men) seemed to be a bit messed up and freaked out by the wealth. And although they are all having fun and enjoy being rich. They show makes your realize its not that much better then the non-rich. "Having many great homes and all the cars you want... the pleasure is short. You look for something else" |

I started to lose interest part way through... I guess a lot of it's interest was based on seeing the "seedy details of the rich life", but part of what was "revealed" was rich people are just like poor people, except with more money. You still go to the bathroom and showed each day, etc, etc. So I guess we were supposed to form opinions about the folks in the show. Well, the only ones that really polarized me... German Baron - total dumbass. Obviously had issues SI Newhouse or whatever, the magazine magnates kid - the kid who was into fencing - MAJOR ISSUES. You see he didn't even look into the camera - not once. Feel kinda bad for him. Seems to be kidding himself that he's "normal". Voted most likely to be into kiddie porn, or end up in jail for something or other. The hornblower (vanderbilt) kid - refreshingly good view and good head on his shoulders. He works and makes $50k/yr but makes high 6-figures from investments. Seemed genuinely nice. Christina Floyd (golfer daughter). What an airhead! Talking about how she thinks they might have a problem if she showed up with a black guy at her tennis club but the jews were OK she took that morning. Driving around in her mercedes... kinda seemed ditzy and totally out of touch with reality. Probably destined to crash and burn one day, or at least have a fair bit of misery along the way. Weil (kid who sued). I think he was actually pretty good until he obviously got freaked out at the end. Too bad, he seemed pretty grounded and sharp, but I guess he lost his composure and ended up looking like more of a dumbass with the lawsuit. Franchette - the fashion boy. I still think he's gay... the worst of the group and the most out of touch with reality. Talks about how is "job" is to spend hours at his tailor getting his clothes looking right, and how he gets all sorts of chicks, etc. Severely dysfunctional - I'd feel bad for him if he wasn't such a dipshit. Johnson. The best of the bunch - very introspective and genuinely interested in looking into these issues. Showed a real part of his life in the film and some insight into himself. Paying retail at the Johnson&Johnson company store was priceless. For some reason really came across nicely - the kind of guy you wish all the best in his life. The others failed to polarize me and I found them boring... sort of like how I'd be bored if they interviewed a random sampling of people off the street. Overall it was mildly amusing but I bet it's a one-hit wonder. Hopefully Johnson will continue his film career and produce some additional unique stuff. |

Size-wise, I was hoping it would be like the "Ferrari Victory by Design" show that Tim put up. It's approximately 45 minutes and only 143MB. But I don't know anything about video and compression etc. so who knows. |

The hour long Gumball Rally Europe episode of Jackass was available on one the Gumball websites a while back. It was around 450mb and was good quality. For large videos just start downloading when you go to bed and it will usually be ready in the morning. |

Depends how it's encoded. Skimp on the audio a bit, encode with divx perhaps, and you could get a viewable video for a couple hundred megs at most. |

I hear you Will - I definitely don't take them seriously - I just have a sick desire to hear them explain how it's so tough to come to grips with never having to work a day in their lives. I think there will be some great rationalizing going on - could be great entertainment. |

Can't imagine why these folks would agree to talk about themselves, except for self-aggrandizement. Listening to these kids talk about the "tribulations" of being rich is like listening to a successful actor talk about how hard it is to practice his craft. |

Hi All, It seems that tonight on HBO (10PM Eastern and Pacific, 9PM Central) there will be an interesting one hour show on the trials and tribulations of being a trust fund baby entitled "Born Rich". Here's a review: http://www.cnn.com/2003/SHOWBIZ/TV/10/27/apontv.bornrich.ap/ I hate to ask, but if anyone can EASILY tape this and then make it temporarily available for download, I would be very grateful. No HBO up here in the frozen north. Thanks. |
