According to an article in AutoWeek, Porsche now has the money to back a serious racing effort and is likely to put that money into an F1 team. The new plant in Leipzig that will manufacture the Cayenne SUV and the Carrera GT supercar was built complete with an FIA-certified circuit that Porsche plans to use to host future F1 events. This means a return to old fashioned manufacturers competition in Formula 1. Porsche takes its racing very seriously and certainly would not back an all-factory team (and an F1 circuit) unless they planned to win. This should make for some interesting racing. I can't wait!
