As we've all heard "The speed you achieve is proportional to the depth of your pockets." I am quite appalled about the 1 kilo weight ballast per point. Ferrari and Schumi have raised the bar in GP racing - and its up to the others to meet that challenge. I think they should institute a spending and testing budget limit instead - Analogous to how the NBA has a salary cap for its players. The runaway season was very impressive but boring to watch. For the others to catch-up, limit the budgets for testing and add a couple more races in the season. |

F1 is talking about buying CART. Very cool idea, now that IRL sucked the wind out of cart buy getting all the A-list teams. CART is left with road circuts and maybe 20 cars. Also talk of how CART would be feeder series for F1 (on another topic) I have seen the best racing from Japan. They have a national super-car race series and they do add weight to the winners (usualy NSX). You get to see real racing with 10 or 11 different winners each season. Skyline, NSX, Lambo lots of neat cars mixing it up. Very good show. F1 was dull as dust this year. I actualy found golf more thrilling. |

What is truly embarrassing is that Ford(jaguar), Mercedes, BMW and Honda cant build a competitive car, these 4 companies combined produce more cars in 60 minutes than Ferrari does in two years. They (the 4) should be thrown out of F1 for there incompetence.

That is completly absurd. It's not o.k. when two guys on the same team switch places to help the team but it is o.k. to handicap one team so the others can compeate. Ferrari went 21 years without a drivers championship, now they get 3 in a row and everyone is freaking out. All things must pass and unfortunatly for Ferrari fans this will also in time and someone else will be on top. |

Oh its not just talk, viewers here are not bothering to watch...in their drogues! Its bloody boring, what very little actual 'on the circuit action' there is (as opposed to pit stops)happens too far back to allow a TV producer to cover it. Great for Ferrari, but terrible for interest. |

I have a great idea: Tie Bernie to the back of Michael's car for ballast. I wonder if he can scream louder than the V10. Seriously, it is up to the other teams to close the gap, not to punish the team that is putting forth the effort to be a winner. Personally, I would relish having the Ferrari team win every race next year in the 02. |

i think be is just trying to make f1 look a bit ridiculous at the moment because he is negotiating the buy-back price of the tv rights from kirch...so its in his interest to say that tv viewers are switching away and therefore he should pay less than what he sold it for 1 year ago. after he gets it back, things will go back to more rational discussions. nobody took the driver swapping and penalty ballast suggestions seriously. |

We don't need to penalise any one team, just take away some of the rediculous recent features of modern racing cars, like auto friggin g'boxes, too many downforce supplements. Make them have to DRIVE again. Allow them to get up the chuff of the car infront and go for a passing manoevre without the destabilising effect of the car in front affecting the aerodynamics of the car trying to pass. Get shot of that greed ridden poisoned dwarf BE. |

I can see the argument that says F1 has deteriorated this season into a boring procession (for practice, qualifying and race) with the two red cars at the front. Right result for us Tifosi. Boring to watch. The question is, do we say it's Ferrari's fault for being too good and give them the "success balast" that's been in TOCA and some other race series, or do we encourage the other constructors to get their act together and make a competitive car? For me it's got to be the latter. Various F1 teams have been way better than the rest in previous seasons, and that's racing. The pack will catch up in the end. FIA regulations should be changed to improve safety, not for penalising winning. I heard that Bernie proposed that a driver will be penalised a kilo per championship point (maybe just the leading driver). This is madness. It won't make for interesting racing (you can see more overtaking, exitement - even crashes - in racing on an oval than in F1 these days). It will make for ridiculous driver tactics as they battle to win races and championships by only one point if possible, so as to minimise the penalty carried next time out. There has to be a better way....

Bernie is getting ridiculous! He states that if Schumey gets a big lead to star the season they'll have to penalise Ferrari. What a load of s**t! Unbelievable! I guess the object is to PREVENT Ferrari from winning! |
