Any racing driver who whings about any corner on any racetrack being TOO DANGEROUS should sod off and do something safer therefore vacating a place to allow others the opportunity to race in their place. Danger, an occupational hazard of race drivers |

No more 130R???- see my last comment. This is pathetic - too fast? F1 is turning into a technical exercise already - Max Mosely is still haunted by the death of Jim Clark at the Nurburgring (he was on the track at the time and actually saw Clark go off and track and kill himself) - until this old bumbling weedy idiot is gone F1 will be a processional display around go-kart tracks, and tribute to SAFETY. This is F***KING stupid. |

Jon, I don't know what to say, drivers saying the sport is 'too dangerous', Fangio doing the Nurburgring in slacks and an undershirt, there is something to ponder. Anway, altering Suzuka's 130R would be a huge blow, why not just have the race be a 76 lap parade? Bah. |

Hubert, There was talk after McNish's huge crash that 130R will either be modified or eliminated. Several drivers said it was getting too dangerous. With Eau Rouge now gone and changes being proposed to 130R, there are not many fast corners left in F1. I kow Hockenheim is better for the fans with it's new design but I sure liked watching the cars draft down the back straight at over 200. There was also talk about Monza getting too fast. I doubt in 5 years time that Monza will resemble anything like it is now. What's next? The Afgahni GP live from Kabul! Jon

Jon, Eliminating the 130R at suzuka? Where did you read this? And, yes, I agree; Bernie is looking to line his pocket, if he didn't milk the sport for every penny there could be more appropriation of his 'cut' to teams that need the influx of cash. He's just doing what every 'manager' would do, cut costs to maintain his profit margin. Dethrone Bernie, and return F1 to exactly what you said: limited rules, huge budgets; and what is it w/ everyone, Ferrari hadn't won a championship in over two decades prior to the '00 championship, this is BS! |

I guess most of us are having a great time watching Ferrari dominate but the downside is that now we are seeing too many changes for the sake of change. Spa gone, Silverstone in doubt, the eliminiation of 130R at Suzuka, and all the talk about slowing down Monza significantly. All the sudden Bernie is worried about what the fans think. Seems a little odd as F1 has never been about entertaining the fans, but about racing and using the best technology in the world. The lure of F1 for years was all about seeing what could be achieved with minimal rules and huge budgets. Now Bernie is treating F1 like a corporate firm in a recession. All the sudden he's worried about costs (read one engine rule) and being politically correct (everyone should have a chance to win regardless of budget). This sucks! I liked F1 the way it was. Even if you told me that the current rules we have used for the past 10-15 years would mean no more championships for Ferrari for another 21 years, I could care less. F1 was exciting and fun to watch even when the team in red was getting their %^^$%'s handed to them. Now Bernie wants to follow the IRL and NASCAR and make it an "Entertainment Series". ALSO: Formula 1 qualifying will take the form of a single lap run in 2003 - the most radical decision taken following Monday's F1 meeting. A session on Friday will determine the order in which the cars take to the track.

Just announced. SPA is now gone from the 2003 calendar. What a shame and an outrage. One of the most historic racing tracks with the Ardennes forest and Eau Rouge! I guess it all comes down to money and tobacco advertising.... |
