Damon, i believe his exact words were:

"Losers always whine about their best... winners go home and ---k the prom queen..."

Love that movie...

So where does that leave Rubens and his HANS complaints?

Somebody help me. Wasn't it from "The Rock" when Sean Connery says something like "Whiners complain, winners go home and f**k the prom queen!"?

Winners make do with what they have and don't complain; they have self confidence.

Sheesh, third time I'm typing this tonight, thanks to a really sh_itty internet connection, but it is so important to me to get this off my chest (getting verklemmt, talk amongst yourselves now):

Jack, good to have you back! Hope the teapot ain't cooking anymore. Agreed to all you said. DC can be very fast and win a race, but it is kinda like playing golf. Any talented golfer can hit an eagle, but only guys like Tiger Woods can consistently deliver the goods (in my riming mode tonight). MS can drive 70 laps without mistake and hit them one after the other for an entire season (well almost) and that's what separates the good drivers (DC, Hill) from the Uebermenschen like Senna and MS.

As far as the UK tabloids go. They're sure the worst and most stupid, but having lived through about 10 years of enduring German/Austrian/Swiss tabloids and their adoration for Berger and later Schumi I just don't give a rat's a_ss anymore. They can write what they want. Actually if you walk up to a German newsstand, you even feel embarrassed to be a Schumi or Ferrari fan. These guys never heard of 'overexposure' it seems.

As far as DC is concerned, it has become an annual joke for me to read all the articles in the British mags about how "this is DC's year", how he's "more fit than ever", and "he's mentally tougher than ever", and all the retired British drivers pick him to "finally take it to Schumi". Blah, blah, blah. He's too mentally fragile to be an F1 Champion. I admire the British fans for being so patriotic towards their drivers, but at some point you have to follow your head instead of your heart. Personally, I think Hill and DC are very similar, except Hill was fortunate to be #1 driver for a #1 team.

Agreed, that JV is a whiner (and a winner). So was Prost, but sometimes whining has its merits/purpose: Prost used it for political reasons to get what he wanted. Didn't always work that way and cost him ultimately his job with Ferrari, but went a long way while at Williams and Mc Laren.
Piquet was similar, not a whiner by nature, but a political back stabber. Ultimately became a whiner, especially when his star was sinking and Senna was the new beloved son of Brazil. Even went as far as to accuse Senna in Playboy (?) of being gay. That btw has never really been cleared up. His girlfriend Xuxa might have been just for facade. But then again, who cares!

Still think Berger was a big whiner too. I guess Benetton's Matchett would agree with me. But DH really was the ultimate whiner of them all.

I would add JV to that list even though he won a championship. He just too bitter now , he keeps crying about MS/Ferrari.He didnt prove faster than Olivier Panis , lets see how he faces against Button...

While I can agree that Rosberg got his WC handed to him ... sort of. He is still a miles better racer than DC or DH, his car control was fantastic and he liked throwing them around, etc.

Just my opinion.
Pete
ps: DC is just trying to pump up his lack of self belief :-)

Jon, basically agree with your statements, but then again Rosberg won a WC on a silver platter.

But before DC gets there a lot of Silverstones would have to happen.

Rob, what were you racing? What kinda cars?

Talking about whining, I had my first good opportunity in my racing career this weekend, but luckily resisted to some extent. There's just times where you really want to because you spend so much time, money, and when things don't go your way you can't let them rest. Typical perfectionist type A personality works so hard to make sure everything they have control over goes right, but when luck goes the other way with something you don't have control over, then the frustration is 10 fold and there's a tendency to whine.

Sunday I was racing and they threw a local yellow. It was about half way through the race and I was in the middle of the chase pack with the leaders in sight. We were catching lapped traffic now and while this yellow stood for about 5 laps I was so careful about not passing in the zone. However, several other drivers were taking advantage of this and were passing me as I was slowing up for the lapped traffic. I lost about 3-4 positions under these yellow conditions. Well, I guess they couldn't get the car out, so they decided to go double yellow. I was racing around the course now at the back end of a 5 car pack. The lead car was slow traffic, so one by one all the cars passed and by the time I passed the next station was the first I saw of the double yellow.

Anyway, after the race they penalized me for passing under yellow. That's all the "ticket" said and didn't even give a corner station. I filled out the protest and took my money down because for some reason I thought they were saying I passed under the local yellow. Not only had I been extra careful, but I had lost several places and they were penalizing me!?! Luckily the jury team showed me the official write up and it had more information about it being a pass under double yellow and in a different turn. I knew right away I was probably guilty. Bad luck those 3 cars ahead of me didn't get caught because they completed the pass out of sight and I made the mistake of racing to double yellow when a double yellow is full course and immediately no passing, even if it's the first one you see.

Did I whine, I really felt like it, but that's a bad habit to get into.

Winner 5 Championships, working on number #6
Whiner 0 Championships, --------------------

Every year Schumacher wraps up the Championship early and is aksed a few races before it's clinched about it and he usually replies something like, "...well it's looking really good right now but anything can happen and statistically others can still win it so there is no real reason to talk about the championship at this stage. Clearly we are ina good position."

In fact even when he is one race away from clinching it he reminds people of Silverstone and refuses to conceed that the Championship is all but over.

NOW WE HAVE OLD BLOCKHEAD DC claiming Shumi is rattled, the McLaren is equal to the Ferrari and he is going to win it all. Even worse that dumb twit Damon is backing him to win it all.

Wake the hell up, it's the first race of the season, even Eddie Irvine (who never misses an opportunity to make a bold claim) didn't make these stupid claims a few years back when he lead Schumacher in the points after a few races.

MS drove a damaged car home to fourth place and Kimi and Juan couldn't pull away from him with faster cars.

DC got the race handed to him on a silver platter with two saftey car incidents that shaved leads of 13 and 10 seconds off Montoya's race not mention his spin while in the lead.

When will DC give it up. He's never going to win the Championship !!!
