It was posted on another forum. I think it was originally from pitpass.com. They have some good cartoons there.

So that's twice that Rubinho was let down because of fuel problems in Brazil.

Maybe Ayrton left a curse when he died that basically means no Brazilians will ever win at Brazil again?

MFZ,

I think they said Rubens had a fuel pickup problem. But then having no fuel would be kind of like a fuel pickup problem wouldn't it ? :-)

It seems that speedtv is doing two reruns the day of the race, and then no more.

Did anybody tape the race or is there going to be a rerun on Speed?

My hotel didn't have Speed.

Actually, Rubens went out because he ran out of fuel. Supposedly the rain took out the electronics (and subsequently the telemetry systems) so they don't know how much fuel he has left. Brawn probably told him to lap a few more times so the time lost at the pits is negligable.

Good point Fredrick, MS is definitely having an unlucky start to the season ... Kimi on the other hand is having the opposite.

I hope the F-2003 is going to be better. I am not sure that the f-2002 isn't doing just fine. Yesterday MS was catching the leaders and wiped out. Then Rubins was leading and lost his engine. In the previous two races MS also had damaged cars. I don't think it is so much the cars as MS finally catching his share of bad luck. You can't dodge it forever and lord nows he has dodged it for a long time now.

Rubens has a tough road ahead of him. He's either the most unlucky driver in the last two years of F1 (while Michael has been the luckiest) OR the Scuderia spends more time and effort preparing Michael's car than they do his. When was the last DNF for Michael?

Anthony,

quote:

This was the 700th World Championship Grand Prix and it was probably one of the best!

Did you watch the same race I did?, one of the best?? ... I'd rather see racing than this weather controlled circus.

That was not racing just a lottery and yes hats off to the McLaren drivers keeping their car on the track ... but if that race had kept going for many more laps the safety car would have led the most laps, and should win.

Racing should be more than just staying on the track and Fisi would never have won the race if it had gone the full distance as the McLarens (especially Coulthard) would have come back with their new tyres.

So good on Fisi also for staying on the track ... but please don't say that was the most exciting or best race out of 700 ... gee I might enter my people mover and my road tyres won't go off and it will definitely finish the race, and thus I have a good chance of winning :-)

Pete
ps: I guess we all look for different things ...

If a McLaren were to win, I'd rather it be Kimi than David.

Peter Sauber and Ron Dennis sure spotted one heck of a talent.

Go Kimi, towards being the youngest world champion ever!

This was the 700th World Championship Grand Prix and it was probably one of the best! The last time Ferrari scored no points was Nurburg 1999! This is Michaels worst EVER start to a season. No driver has entered more GP's and not won one than Fisichella. I really thought he'd finally won, and so did he.
As for Rubens... what can you say? I was soooo rooting for him. How can he be so unlucky? I had all my fingers crossed for him when he took the lead. Brazilian drivers won the Brazilan GP in 1973, 1983, and 1993. I thought the pattern was going to continue!

One oddity from a race full of them is the fact that Alonso doesn't seem to be able to see the colour yellow. He was given a drive through penalty for passing under the yellows and then he didn't slow down for the yellows and crashed into what was left of Webber's jag. A bit ironic that he caused the race to be red-flagged and was then given 3rd!

Ok - I've only been watching F1 for two complete seasons now (this is the 3rd) - but WHAT THE HECK just happened??? I caiught the repeat, and there were about a dozen of us watching the race screaming and shouting in confusion.

Personally, I think that should have been DC's win, if we're going by strange rules, but why not pull the safety car out again?

And poor Rubens... he must be incredibly irate at this whole situation - this race (last accident aside) could have been his.

No worries, Ferrari will win in Imola. Why? Normally whenever I go to a GP, my favourite wins. Strange, but true. I'll use my choochoo, promise.

Seriously, I have no doubt, MS will win this year's WC. I didn't expect them to win Brazil, as it is normally a chaos race. I actually bet on Kimi, should move me forward in the fantasy league. Imola might still not be Ferrari territory, but Barcelona definitely will be. They'll get their act together and strike back with the new chassis. It will happen, don't worry.

They said on SpeedTV that the 2003 chassis would be ready for next race (Imola). Let's hope it's a better car because the 2002 isn't doing the job. Give credit to McLaren. They did their homework over the winter as did many other teams. I think Ferrari took it a little too easy in the offseason considering how much they dominated last year. Maybe they thought this season would go the same way. WRONGO!!

Get back to work boys!

I just watched the replay.

That is one BS red-flag rule, I must say. However, it did help my Fantasy team, so I'm not too irritated.

Poor Rubens just can't buy a break.

I can understand reverting to 1 lap prior, but why do they go back to 2 laps? Decades ago, rules like this made sense. But with today's pinpoint-accurate technology, they have the capability of determining the order at exactly the moment of the wreck. It's one of the areas where I find trouble with the FIA. Apply your capabilities where it makes sense, not in areas that create drama.

I don't think fuel would have been the issue. I'm sure he was low on fuel, hence running fastest laps before he retired. Todt and Brawn are just too good to let that happen. The car is definitly fast enough to make up ground on the track. I would guess electronics or hydraulics failed.

The rule was put in place to avoid drivers racing back to the flag like NASCAR. You only have to witness poor Alonso coming up on Webber's wheel to see why it makes sense. Personally, I would have voted for the SC to come out *again* and then simply run to 2 hours.

I used to live right next to the track and was there when Senna won in 93. I would have to say the Rubinho is my favorite driver and I feel so sick right now. It would have meant so much for him and the country if he had pulled off the win. They did not show the crowd but I bet the place emptied out when he parked the car. The guy just doesn't get the breaks!!! I would love to see what happened to the car, I wonder if it was running out of fuel as there was no smoke out of the car.

In my 10 or so years of watching F1 I've never seen anything quite like this. If the FIA wanted to make it more interesting... Mission accomplished.

I agree Kimi really didn't earn this one and as for poor Rubens, what can I say.

Renault may prove to be a bigger threat to Ferrari than McLaren as the season goes on. That Renault looks very fast and stable, with 30 more horses they might be tough.

What were the race stewards thinking when they allowed that huge dozer to be in the runoff area where all of the cars were spinning off? Michael could have run right under it when he spun off! They either should have had the pace car out while cars were being removed, or had a crane ready to pick them up. There had already been one incident of a spinning car hitting another one at that spot (Pizzonia into Montoya).

At least there is no boring procession any more, and Ferrari is going to have to fight for this one. This will surely add to the number of viewers.

And what's up with that "red flag at the end = -2 lap rule"!? Can someone explain the rational for the rule (or if you're leading at the end and get passed should you immediately cause a red flag :-))? Not only was the winner wrong -- awarding 3rd and 7th to the drivers who crashed out causing the whole mess was even wronger!

Good lord, what an ugly race, 10 cars that didn't finish?

And those 2 last crashes were one ugly sight, along with fissichella(sp) getting that win taken right under his feet, well-deserved win on his part but oh well

Schumacher just left the racetrack on the same spot a round earlier montoya and pizzonia lost the car. Pitty really. Would have been nice to see Ferrari catch up with the McLarens a bit this race, point wise.

Lets hope barichello will save the day.
