It's for those reasons, I think, that people tend to either like or dislike a driver. Kimi, showing no emotion at all, doesn't seem to have a 'following.' People respect his talent, but no one that I've come across (not that I speak with anyone close to the sport) seems to feel strongly about him.

I don't know why, but I just can't like Montoya. Maybe it's his driving "style" or his early bravado that sowed some sour grapes with me, but I just can't cheer for him. I saw him on Late Night, and he seemed like a great, charismatic (a bit cocky. suprise, suprise) guy, but as a racing driver, I don't know what it is. Kimi, on the other hand, I really enjoy watching drive; he seems to have fantastic nerve and balls, but never losses his cool. He does, however, make mistakes like the one in Brazil allowing Fisi to take the lead, and the mistake at Magny Cours that allowed MS to slip by; that said, I still think he's got tremendous composure. I'm looking to him to be the next WC.

Interesting interview by Georg Kacher. Favorite Q&A?

"Which drivers do you rate?"

"Raikkonen and Montoya, and, of course, my brother Ralf. Those are my top three. I also think Benetton's new driver, Fernando Alonso could become kind of a dark horse."

Very, very interesting. How do you think Rubens Barichello feels? To not be in even the top FOUR in Michael's opinion? Not a surprise, of course, but it's still gotta suck a little.

I've always been an admirer of Montoya, and Raikkonen has really impressed this year. I've never liked Ralf, and there is no way he's even 80% of the driver that his brother is, but, naturally, Michael needs to include him. I'm sure Michael took advantage of this opportunity to silently slam Coulthard, not to mention older drivers like Jacques Villeneuve and young guns like Button.

Second favorite Q&A?

"What would have to happen to make you throw in the towel? The arrival of a young and ambitious teammate?"

"Absolutely not! On the contrary, such a development would motivate me."

Boy, I DREAM AND PRAY that one day, we'd have M.S. and Montoya on one team -- Ferrari or any other. Dang!

vty,
