I actually think it was a good idea to have the pace car start the race. Imagine having 20 cars racing to the 1st corner in standing water with intermediate tires. You think turn 3 claimed a lot of cars imagine the devastation that would have created!

Or they should have delayed the race by 20 to 30 mins and then have a standing start.

I'm glad they re-examined the winner, because in my opinion Fischella (sp?) was the clear winner and the going back 2 laps rule is ridicules.

Latest word is, that the FIA will have a meeting tomorrow to verify, if Kimi really won or not. There is allegedly some proof showing, that Fisicho was already in the lead a lap before the end.

Good for him, not so good for my fantasy league...

The FIA is weird in its track record: On one hand they allow an obvious trainwreck waiting to happen in Brazil by not allowing the teams to go onto full wets and on the other hand we had what I thought was the dumbest F1 start in Spa a few years ago. Just because it rained, they started the race behind the pace car, lame to nth degree, kinda like US racing starts (very lame).

F1 has to have a starting start, but the teams should be allowed to have the tires needed for the situation.

Much better... extend the rollback rules to 5 laps to give teams more time for strategizing... then make the "we'll stop the race if..." rules a bit more clear.

Then teams will be able to look at their current position in the race and strategize whether they think they can improve or not... if not, then the two team members coordinate to cover the track in debris and stop the race in 5 laps...

Then the car engineers can focus more on how the cars disintegrate in track covering ways than on how fast the cars are.

The # of stops strategy will be about getting in the lead or as close to it as possible at an appropriate time.

The lower budget teams will be better able to compete by focusing on staying in reasonable position awaiting the leaders to self-destruct the cars. Since they won't be going through nearly as many cars, their budget will be much stronger. Self-equalizing, kind of like a progressive tax system.

Now that will make it interesting!! :-)
(How do you make a winking smile face here? ;) )
