You're right about the all Brazilian lineup being bad for marketing. I still think Montoya is one of the top three drivers (MS and Kimi being the other two) at the moment.
I just like Massa, but I agree there are better choices, like eg. Alonso.

There was an award given to the best driver as chosen by the F1 drivers themselves, and guess who won? No, not Schumacher, but Fisichella! Here's a link to the story:

http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/motorsport/formula_one/2650487.stm

I think Fisichella is probably the best Italian driver on the current lineup (Jarno Trulli's performance is like a yo-yo at most), and if should the Scuderia is looking for local talent, I hope he gets it, with all due respect to both Trulli and Luca Badoer.

As for your choice, I think having two South American drivers on the same team is a bit too much, especially on a European-centric team like Ferrari. I'm not too hot on both Montoya and Massa either, if Ferrari were to revamp their entire lineup when 2005 comes, I'd like to see Raikonnen (!) and/or Fisichella or someone like Jacques Villeneuve (!) be added to the lineup.

I hope Fisico ain't ever gonna be a Ferrari driver. Nice guy, but IMHO not WC material.

My 2005 Ferrari wishlist lineup:
Montoya, Massa

Alright guys, now bring out your flame throwers.

PS: Surprised to see, that they'll do a ceremony for him. Probably because the next race is in Italy and he is Italian and it was his first (and only?) victory. Normally they aren't as generous. Remember some Interlagos races back a few years when DC and MS got disqualified and other people were named winners etc.

Here's some info from F1-live's website. They will have all 3 on a podium for pics.

"That doesn't mean he isn't happy with the victory as he know heads to his home Grand Prix at the Imola circuit as a race winner. He may have missed out on celebrating in style in Brazil, but he will get another chance as all three drivers, Giancarlo, Kimi and Fernando Alonso, take to the podium next Thursday ahead of round four.

"On Thursday at Imola we're going to do a podium and some pictures with Fernando Alonso and Kimi Raikkonen so it's going to be alright," he added.

Giancarlo is the first Italian to secure a victory since Riccardo Patrese back in 1992 for Williams."

Would be surprised if they do anything special for him. Normally these things go unnoticed. I would assume they'll make him part of the group, who has to do the official press conference on Thursday, but that's all.

Do you think they'll do something for Fisico in Imola? Say, a special presentation of his first place trophy? It is his first time winning a GP, too bad he didn't managed to experience it fully back in Brazil.

Yup, sure:
http://www.blick.ch/PB2G/PB2GA/pb2ga.htm?snr=49439

Sorry for the German, but it does say, that Schumi can just about forget his hope: Even if they go with 53 laps (55 raced minus the two), it would equal to 74,647 %, a number that would normally be rounded up to 75%.

BTW: Roger Benoit (RB for short, hehe) has been reporting about F1 for over 20 years and is IMHO the most knowledgeable and reliable resource. He was the one who broke the Massa to Ferrari deal back in last fall!

negative:

The race will get full points regardless. So it'd be better for Ferrari if Fisico gets the points.

i hope he gets it, but actually it wud be better for ferrari if raikonen keeps it but only for half points, as per rules for races stopped prior 75% finished (in case it is lap 53).

He started lap 56. 56-2=54. He was the classified leader on lap 54.
