Jay, Gerrit and Pat attends every year and participates in all of the FerrariList events. Ask them if they remember James - 328GTS. That Friday is a karting event and dinner. If interested, email me ([email protected]). Theo, I'm so excited for you. F1 and Montreal is amazing. Drive a Ferrari and you are royalty. Couple years ago, my friends told me to drive my Ferrari up there (from Wash DC) and said it is like being royalty. I was like 'whatever-just a car'. and WOW. Arrived Thursday, met up with a Ferrari club. 60 car Ferrari parade, escorted by 13 cops on BMW bikes through rush-hour traffic. All streets blocked for over an hour. I'm talking major highways. The over-a-mile long parade ended up on Peel St where two blocks were blocked off. Amazing sight. I get out of my car and i'm offered free drinks etc. We went to a club, the street was blocked off with cones. Pull up in a Ferrari, they move the cone. Walk right into club, even though line was around the corner! I even flashed my Ferrari keys to get into a 'sorry, this is a private party' club. just plain silly stuff. Well, last year, the city got soo much crap from all the traffic they caused the year before, that they limited the parade to 25 cars. And with the team order thing last year, Ferrari fans seemed to have dropped quite a bit last year. 90% of everyone in the subway wore red caps in 2001, but only like 40% in 2002. Watching F1 live is amazing as well. I will be driving from Boston as well, but leaving the 328 at home. James |

Hi all, This is my first F1 race and never been to Montreal. I'm leaving from Boston Thursday afternoon. I've been reading this and previous posts. What is going on at Peel Street? Are there other Ferrari or F1 public events? I would love to go. I'm anticipating on bringing my 328. Thanks, Theo

Adam, I'll be driving up from Long Island on Thursday but I'll be driving a rental car. Will you be going to the Peel street display? Hopefully we'll get settled in in time to stop at Mclean's. How about Jack's earlier suggestion to meet at a beer stand after qualifying? Any suggestions on where to meet? PS: I have no idea why the words "rental car" are being underlined. Is that you Rob? |

Count my wife and I in! I checked out the pub and the prices are reasonable! compared to the $150 per person for the club dinner I think I'll pass on that one! See you there! I'll try to bring Gerrit and Pat along so we won't be alone. |

Jay, the group is the FerrariList people. We've been meeting there for years since it is close to the Ferrari parade that ends on Peel. I usually pop in and out of the pub so I can watch my car (on display on Peel). But i won't be bringing my car up this year. Instead of driving from Wash DC, i'll be flying to Boston on Monday, and driving from there. Just come in, there should be a long table in the center of the restaurant/pub, and introduce yourselves. I'll be "James" since noone can pronounce "Giang" which is "Yang". hope to meet some of you guys (and gals).

I'm working out all the details now. With a team hardcard we normally get into clubs/pubs etc without hassle. Drop me an e-mail if you and your group want to meet up with our team and the other "support" race teams - we may have a show car out on display in the main street/promo area. I have one media thing I have to do...but other than that look for the beast in the support race paddock area....and me drooling over at the Ferrari pits. and I expect each of you that are there to come by and say hello! I'm not trying to make money on this, just wanna share my good fortune. I'll be leaving for Italy tomorrow, but will be back Wed. So either post here on FC or email me at [email protected] if you are interested. Dale ps I still need a place to stay. Any suggestions will be most welcome. thx

We kind of got screwed a little last time. We were in 11, but section 5. On the inside of the Senna Curve, there are three of the tallest trees in Canada which are successful at blocking your view of the main straight. Two sections over, and it's perfect. |

I'll definitely try to find tickets to Grandstand 12 or 11, but don't know how I can tell if the seats are close between 11 and 12. I'd rather secure tickets now than to get them at the 'door' type of deal. I've sat at the hairpin two years straight, looking for a new perspective. Can't wait !! James Giang Hoang 328 GTS |

Giang, I've sat down there a few times (11-12), and while it's probably the best overall spot, you definitely need to be in the right seats. As you face the grandstands, you want to be either on the right of 12, or the left 11. From there, you can see all the way up to the final turn. If you're too far "outside" of the grandstands, your view starts to get obstructed. BTW, we've always purchased the tix through our hotel concierge once we get there. Markup isn't too bad, and you tend to have a fairly good selection. As far as meeting up, why don't we just pick out a beer tent somewhere near there, say after qualifying on Saturday, and anyone who wants to make further plans can do that. |

This will be my 3rd year, and am looking for seats in grandstand 11 or 12 (which is better?) for turn 1. Been at grandstand 24 (hairpin) which is nice, but would really like to try another grandstand. Almost doesn't matter, as my heart races the moment I step out of the subway and hear those engines roar. In years past, the portions of FerrariList folks has always gotten together. Don't think I'll drive the 328 up this year. Anyone have tickets? James |

Like Jack said Dale there's tons of stuff on Crescent street plus other areas close to it. They set up a stage in the middle of the street and live bands play there all night long. Vendors everywhere... Last time I was there, Honda had their display on the street (I guess probably because Jacques Villeneuve's restuarant is right on the corner). You might want to try a B&B. That's what I and 3 others did when we were there. We stayed at a B&B that's about 10 mins from Crescent. I think it only cost us $80 CDN each. |

Dale, I don't know how much you're looking to spend for a room, but like most big weekends, the closer to downtown the pricier. We just booked at the Sheraton Four Points, which is about $300/nite. I think they still have rooms, but selection is getting lean. I think, as we get closer, rooms will free up. Avoid the tour packages at all cost--too expensive. One of the best hangout areas is Crescent Street. Basically it shuts down all weekend, with people spilling out of the clubs and bars. Good times. Like I said, there's a beer garden right outside of the Metro Station at the track. It's great for some spontaneous fun and drinking, plus the line for the train is usually pretty long. As far as the new format, I'm kind of curious to see them. You'd have to check the official site for a time schedule. Unfortunately, I'm not going up until Friday this year, so I won't make that day's sessions. Remember, if you're a big racing nut, there are other support events to watch. Plus, there's that nice casino sitting in the middle of the track. |

Andy, in the past few years, we've waited to get there before buying tickets. Long story, but it's worked out better. We've been in the Senna curve for 3 years--hit or miss depending on which seats. Two guys are going up a day early, so they'll probably take care of it. One of our routines, post track, is to down a few at the beer garden just outside the Metro station. We've met numerous people over the years, and it's a lot of fun. Let me know if you want to meet up. |
