They can't exactly copy the Ferrari, since everyone has always said that the 2001 Sauber (with the twin keel front suspension, a feature they retained in 2002 and 2003) was a pretty good chassis by itself. I'd reckon Peter Sauber, who ran Mercedes Benz's sports car program not 10 years ago would've wanted a totally original design for his car as well.

Also, I've learned that DaimlerChrysler actually pays a lot of money either as sponsorship or probably the buy-out price for Kimi Raikonnen to Sauber.

which is really kind of non-sensical; all they had to do was go over to ferrari and take some really good 'notes', and build the same car around the same engine. why try to reinvent the wheel (pun intended), when the 2002 was already considered the best f1 car of all time.

Can't imagine, that the fluids really matter. I think the current Sauber car is a stinker. Hence nothing will change their low performance for this year. Sad.

Petronas is probably the reason why the team still can't match their stellar 2001 season so far.

When Sauber started using the Ferrari engine, they also received the Shell fuel and lubricant to go with it, and up until 2001, they were still using Shell. In 2002, Petronas decided that their lubricant is ready for use on the F1 car, though they retained the use of Shell race fuel, and the result was that they were beaten to fifth on the table.

This year, supposedly Petronas also supplies the lubricant and fuel as opposed to Shell, so expect them to struggle a lot. I just hope Heinz Harald won't get upset first.
