Amar; Wolfgang:

Finally back in the states. Man, what a trip... Anyway, the GP sucked for me too. I had someone else take care of the tickets only to realize that what my friend thought were granstand seats, were, in all actuallity, general admission --section rocher-- so I spent 5 hours sitting on a cliffside, trying not to fall off, watching what I could see of the race. I headed over to the texan for a bit after the race, didn't see anyone, and went and had lunch at planet pasta --5 euro for ONE can off coke-- anyway, sorry we couldn't meet up. Maybe next year? PS- the guy at the hotel had "trouble" giving me my wake up call, so I was 2 hours late getting to the event. Can you say... traffic? ugh. Regards, Hubert.

Hubert,

I'm sorry we missed meeting you all after the race. We actually had to rush back to our cruise ship in Cannes at 5 pm and not 8 pm as I'd thought, and so in fact we missed the end of the race to get back in time. We got lucky and managed to hook up with a guy who's prominent in Formula 1 and watched from a great vantage point for the 1 hour we were there!

Hope you had a great time in Monaco and look forward to meeting somewhere in the world in the near future...

Regards,
Amar

Hi Amar & Hubert

well I`m back from Monaco and dissapointed.
Everything went wrong for me this time.
I forgott my Mobil on Saturday night at the Hotel.
Have to charge it and went to Monaco early Sunday morning and
forgot the Mobil hanging at the wall to charge.
So, no way to get in contact with you and the other gents. Got your
Mobil number only stored at my mobil.it sucks!
We arrived very lat on Sunday NEAR Monaco and there was no way to drive close to the city.
All roads were closed! So we have to walk over 3 hours to the track.it sucks!
At least we arrived (after the start) at our place.it s***!
It was an appartement house and we have been there in the 11th floor..it s***!
Couldn`t see so much and most of the race we watched at TV..it!
The place was close after the start before the first left corner comes on the left side of the
track.
After the race it was amazing to find the cars and going out of the city.another 3 hours!
So, we came too late to the race, saw nothing only TV, walked 6 hoursno fun!

Amar & Hubert, hope you both enjoyed your trip and the race?
Once again I`m so sorry and apologice for all the trouble and I`m sad not to meet you there.

I have shot some pics (from far away 11 floor) which will I post the next fe days.

Hubert,

yeps, I found (googled) the "Le Texan":
"Le Texan, 4 rue Suffren Reymond, 377-93-30-34-54. A western version of the Hard Rock Cafe that draws crowds and celebrities nightly; menu includes quesadillas, salads, fried chicken, burgers and beer."
"Le Texan (no joke) serves down-home Tex-Mex far from Laredo: Owned and operated by two American women, this place is generally crowded, so book in advance."

Sounds good & we will CU on Sunday.

Wolfgang

TEXAN (LE)
93-30-34-54
4, rue Suffren Reymond

Amar, See you then. Ill ring both of you once I get to Nice.

I started this thread to find out who else is going for the Grand Prix and getting info on tickets. It didn't occur to me it might end up in a discussion of the political merits or personal moralities of visiting "peace loving Europe" - I thought those strongly discussed debates were confined to the "Off Topics" section!

Anyway, to those who're going to be in Monaco, let's have a great time, a Ferrari celebration at the end of it, and look forward to seeing you there...

Bart,

strange Bart, strange. But I respect your opinion.
"Sorry, but I will not travel to peace loving Europe ..."
WHO does not love peace???
Did any body canceled his trip to "war loving USA" the last months? No of course not, `cause we do not think so!

A sad Wolfgang

I'm not going to Monaco this year (I've been there 7 times or so), but just a small tip: go to the Casino square at Friday and Saturday evening and enjoy all the exclusive cars you see over there: F40s, F50, 550 Barchettas, McLaren F1, Pagani, Lamborghini and so on and so on .... see my website for some galleries of Monaco from last year: www.red-headed.com. Greetings and enjoy your stay in Monaco!

My maximum is two a year. I did go to Lake Albert. It was great fun but my car lost.
Going to peace loving Europe right now is not in my plans. My daughter is in Nice & Cannes right now. I pray she comes home.
Sorry, but I will not travel to peace loving Europe at the present.

I have gone many times and have always been able to get a ticket. Easy to do if you are only by yourself as there are always single seats scattered about that are unsold. Also scalpers are very willing to get rid of single seats they might have. Wed or Thur is the best time to try for tickets.

Hubert,

Okay thanks. If my fiancee hasn't made us escape the Monaco crowds by then, we'll be sure to drop by and say hello to you all (you'll spot me easily - I will probably be the only "folically challenged" Indian-looking guy there!).

Have a good trip over...

Do get there early and DO expect to have to defend your spot. It gets very crowded and people will do anything to get a good spot. Tatcat and I noticed that may of the good seats below the wall had been secured much earlier than the weekend by people locking their chairs to trees, etc.

Nonetheless, the wall is the best spot for the race as you can see the Jumbotron from across the harbor and more of the track than anywhere else.

Yo Rick, thinking about going back next year!
Lisa wants to stay in Eze.

Amar,

if you go to Le Rocher, bring towels or a plaid or something as there is no arranged seating there whatsoever. When you walk up there, you might be able to snatch a spot on the wall (defend it with your life! hahahahaha!).

Don't linger too long "in town" but secure your spot VERY early!

I also always found the grandstand tickets way too expensive for what you get.

Good luck!

Jack, Jens and Rick,

Thanks for the replies. There are still some grandstand seats available but at silly prices. Think we might just follow your idea Jack and go to Le Rocher and take our chances there... not sure how appealing it is to my fiancee to get up at 5 am to get a good view of something she's not hugely crazy about but we shall see!

just show up. sit on the hill over looking Rasscase. you can purchase tickets. on the day. you must get there while its still dark to get a perfect spot but there are many great spots along the road where you can see all the way across the harbour to the tunnel exit. take plenty provisions and a comfortable chair. just remember to arrive early. you won't be dissappointed. if you call The Grand Prix restaurant (formerly La Rassacce) you more than likely can get one or two spots for thursday pre Qual. at a bargain price compared to race day.

Amar,

Tickets are already sold out, I fear! Nevertheless you can still try it via the Ferrari Owners Site and order some Paddock Club tickets of the "Ferrari Formula One Club".
These are complete weekend Paddock tickets with catering and drinks as well pit lane access till five minutes before the start or so. Additionally you are allowed in the Ferrari Pits, take part in their press conferences etc. etc.
For the complete service of these tickets go to the Owners Site and click Ferrari Formula one club on their main page.
These tickets are definitely the best to get for any GP. The large downside of this is the price:
4700 per ticket for the Monaco GP.
Still I will do this one time!
BTW: Prices have crumbled for these tickets! Last year there were over 6000 as far as I can remember! So see it as a bargain! :-)

Con saluti cordialissimi,

Hi Amar,

I believe they are all sold out, at least the Grandstands are.

I like to visit it but not going this year.

If you can and want to cope with the discomfort, simply go to the rock (le rocher).

It is always seen as the poor man's way of watching the GP but the view is STUNNING with almost 60% of the track right in front of you + 2 large video screens and you can actually follow the cars with your eyes, something that I found almost impossible from any of the grandstands that I have been seated on.

Hi Jack,

Thanks for that suggestion but I probably need to arrange them in advance. Have been to the Monaco GP once before - watching it from a friend's apartment above the circuit, so no need to worry about tickets that time!

Hi Amar,

ticket will be available "on the spot" albeit at a premium.

Go EARLY (around 6.00 AM) and you'll probably manage to buy them from one or the other guys selling them in the street.

Ever been to the GP before?

Hi,

Is anybody from FC going to the Monaco Grand Prix?

I'm waking up rather late on this but really want to go and don't know if decent tickets are still available. Does anyone know how to get hold of tickets with good views at this late stage??!!

Thanks for any help.

Ciao,
Amar
