Michael, congrats from a fellow 101 racer!

I did their experience at the Chicago oval and it rocked. I drove my 'CART' just about a month after I drove a F1 and it was interesting to compare the two (posted about it somewhere on this board).

Following the instructor didn't bother me as much, but driving close to the wall at speed and making sure not to miss the apex was challenging.

The tandem drive was the first ride that day and they instructor didn't fix the steering wheel and in the first turn they kissed the wall. That ended the tandem rides right then and there. So your car can 'explode'...

I'm surprised to see the 'CART' cars on your pictures. I thought they had remodeled their fleet to give them more of an IRL look. Did they say anything about that or have any IRL like cars?

Anyway, I'll be going for my second experience this summer with 101 at the Joliet oval. It gets addictive, be warned. And next time I'm in Vegas, I think I'll have to drive that oval too, hehe.

Well, in the Off Topic forum, about a month ago, I posted a question about Driving101.com at the Las Vegas Motorspeedway. I won a free driving experience from my company for being one of the highest data sales in the region yada yada yada... with a stay at the Bellagio and dinner at the Fontana bar. Anyway here are some pics:

It was an awseome experience for someone who has never raced before on a track or ever drove over 100 MPH. They day started with us taking the obligatory "celebrity" photographs in front of the cars. Then we were given nomex suits to suit up. A quick Q&A, program guidlines, etc. We then hopped in the van and took a quick tour of the track with some driving tips and what to do if your car somehow explodes (joke). We then got a tour of the car and the harnesses and how to release the steering wheel and harness in case the car explodes (joke).
We were then pushed off by an ATV and told to pop the clutch and give it gas and stay behind your instructor at all times focusing on his rear view mirror. I was nervous as heck. The flagman kept waving me to go faster at each lap but the combination of G forces and the concentration on the steering and focusing on your instructors rear view mirror was sort of taxing to say the least. By my third lap I was having fun, still thinking I was gonna flip over on the turns if I over compensated my steering. I thought I was bumper to bumper with my instructor, but on the following pictures, you will see I was waaaaay behind.
After I pulled into pit row. I was screaming in joy and excitement. I wanted to do it again. No sooner that I stepped out, the pit crew told me that my company also signed me up for the tandem qualifing run. Basically a two seater car, I sit in the back the driver drives a qualifiying run in 3 laps at 180+ miles an hour. Now, I thought I was driving fast and close to the wall......man, the tandem ride was something else! And the G forces at those speeds. All in all it was great! Now, this from a guy who is too chicken to ride a Ferris wheel or a small roller coaster.....HAHA

Lap RPM Top Speed
001 2500 60.00----> i'm nervous
002 4308 128.24--> interesting
003 4669 138.97--> this is fun!
004 4980 148.24--> oh yeah!
005 5072 151.00--> MY GOODNESS!
006 4172 124.19--> over already?

The 101 class isn't supposed to exceed 145 MPH. What the heck, eh?!
