Well, the Michelins were dominant, but also came apart. Literally.

Ron Dennis deserves extra credit for the incredibly bold and smart strategy he came up with for Kimi. Making only one pitstop and gambling at the beginning of the race with NOT starting and changing fuel and tires instead. Simply brilliant! This guy turned the last starting place almost into an advantage. (BTW: I don't like Dennis, but this was simply strike of genius.)

Would have liked it better, if the Williams had had more speed and pressed MS harder, but it was good as it was. Should finally help me in the Fantasy league race...

Yes, Andreas is right, the Michelin teams are doing well.

It was difficult for everyone since most all of the practice sessions were done in the wet.
Qualifying was run using a dry line with wet edges. If anything, Williams has shown their straight line speed advantage.

Kimi took himself, effectively, out of the race with a bonehead move and should start from the paddock. Michael is in a great position to just let the Williams' run if they are THAT dominant here. All he needs to focus on is to run a clean race and to finish third if he wants to take a long term view of the season.

We'll see what happens. The sun is out and its a bit on the cool side (60 degrees F) right now.

Forza Ferrari

Ralf on pole, Montoya 2nd, Schumacher 3rd. The Michelins were top yet again.

However Kimi made a booboo and ended up on the last place. So the WC might turn this weekend in Ferrari's favor.

Thanks Sanjiv, that's a great link. Will use it for this weekend.

But what about our local reporters? Jack, Nika, don't tell me you didn't bring your laptop!

They probably are too busy enjoying the race weekend, FChat is the last thing on their mind. I can't blame them. Have fun!

But we expect a post race report and many pics!

Rain. Rubens on pole, Schumi 2nd, he got off for a moment. Heidfeld in the Sauber 3rd, Kimi 6th.

Obviously without much meaning in the rain, but interesting nevertheless. Weather forecast for tomorrow has potential of rain and a 20% chance for race day.

No updates coming from Canada. What's up with that first qualifying session? Anybody watching Speed vision?

No updates on the web sites. Darn.
