And Prodrive itself is owned by Dave Richards who is currently running the BAR F1 team.

They also built the hugely succesfull Subura WRC cars.

I am of course very proud to see that the (class) winning 550 # 88 was co-driven by fellow Dutchman Peter Cox.

:-D

>>Freddy Dor of Care Racing Development is the guy who owns the ProDrive Ferraris.<<

Wondering if he owns an "unathorized" team of Privateer Racers?

Freddy Dor of Care Racing Development is the guy who owns the ProDrive Ferraris. He even drove in one of the cars.

JRV, the 360's had major problems all day. The Prodrive 550's are all customer cars--and 3 are owned by one guy, a big real estate mogul from England. I forget his name...sorry.

What happened to the 360's?

and is the ProDrive 550 a factory or dealer car? or an Independent?

TIA

Thanks for the update Jon.

I'm still pissed at this guy and can't believe he said that on Speed. I mean after all F1 is a hard sell in the US as it is and Speed wants their audience to watch F1 for commercial reasons. So here is a guy bashing the 'product' of his very own network. What an idiot!

Andreas,

The announcer whom you refer to is Bill Adam co-commentator for the American LeMans Series. I heard his statement about "no passing" in F1 and somewhat agree with you that he wouldn't let the issue alone after Hobbs stuck up for F1. Kind of rubbed me the wrong way too, but I know Bill Adam and he has extensive race experience at both Sebring, Daytona and LeMans.

Bill was a factory Jaguar driver in Group C with Bob Tullis Group 44 (the pre-Silk Cut Group C Jaguars that ran at Lemans).

Bill also drove for several Brian Redman teams, scoring victories at notable venues such as Sebring, Daytona International Speedway, Road Atlanta, Lime Rock, Road America and Mosport.
He also drove for Champion Racing's Porsche team beginning in 1993, scoring a victory with co-driver Hans Stuck Jr. at Sebring in 1996, and has since earned additional wins in Trans-Am and vintage racing.

Last year he was one of two guest drivers at Indy in the Porsche Super Cup finishing mid pack if memory serves me right.

He is by no means an armchair commentator though I was somewhat miffed at his knock on F1. The other comments (which I did not hear) seem off base as well but maybe they were taken in the wrong context.

Regards,

The 550 finally got the reliability they needed. Great job, Prodrive!

Too bad for the 360GT teams though. :-(

It was quite spectacular and them shining up the car for the finish was almost unreal. Loved the fact, that they drove off the tires of the Vettes. Ha!

But what about that commentator: Making negative comments in comparison to F1 and wouldn't budge down even after Hobbs spoke up for F1. And then he compares a victory at Sebring as 'nothing'. What a jerk.

Congratulations to the Prodrive Ferrari 550 team. These guys spanked the Corvettes. With a 14 lap lead on the Vetts and about 40 minutes left in the race, the Ferrari pulled into the garage to make sure everything was good to go for the finish, cleaned and shined the car up, then sent it on its way to the checkered flag. Keep in mind that it takes about :05min.:45sec. for the 550 to complete one lap at Le Mans. Now multiply by that by 14 laps and your looking at well over an hour lead. Also congrats to the Bentley Boys for the over all win.

Anybody watching The #88 550 on Speed TV? The sister car burst into flames but w/ 1 hr to go looks like 5th overall 1st in GT. Whoopie
