Hi Art, I'be been told by my vintage racing buddies that the oil-in-frame Triumphs handle better than my 70. Imagine that, because we all hated them at the time. Of course, the 5-speed and better heads of the later models come in handy too. But Kudos to you bud. It's great to see someone still raising the flag. Those old Brit bikes were POS for the most part. But they could handle and brake, and, oh, the look. Personally, I think that the 70 Bonneville is one of the best looking bikes ever made. Too bad, the Brits didn't know what they had.

Hmmm... the more I write about these old Triumphs the more they sound like certain F-cars, ha!

Have fun and keep the shiny side up!

Dale:

It started out as a 74 Bonny, 750cc. The stockers make 35hp at the rear wheel on our dino. This makes 70hp. The triple clamps are kosman, and adjustable, the exhaust is from the late 60s, but has been redesigned for performance. The front Ceranis, reworked with Olins innerds. The rear shocks are Fox.

The wheels are 18s front and rear, front WM4, rear WM5. I've set it up to handle close to an F3 Honda, with about the same acceleration up to 100mph. A lot of fun when these kids can't stay with the old bike, and then they find the rider is just as old as the bike. I've heard a bunch when I take the helmet off, and they see the grey.

Art what year and model is your Triumph mc? I have a 70 Bonneville resting in the garage. Because I grew up riding these bikes, I love 'em, except I find the vibes harder and harder to put up with as I get older.

It's a kevlar composite helmet with special paint. I'll show it to you, and once you've seen it, you'll understand. It has a certain paint job that only two other helmets in the world has. The paint scheme is pretty well known, and it isn't a copy.

I thnk I'm riding the triumph to Laguna, and I'll be wearing my new helmet. I'm told there are only three of them in the entire world. I also been told not to advertise what it is.

Dale;

Colin is racing in Moto GP now on the Aprillia RS CUBE bike. He has not had much success so far this year.

Art;

I was thinking about going but now that Honda USA will not be having there riders racing the WSB and the fact that so far this year it has been more the "Ducati cup" than WSB of other years i think i am going just sit back and watch it on TV instead.
