Section H is the best if you're not planning on walking the track. The time I was there, we walked the track, stopped at each corner for a while, and then moved on. Art |

It depends on how much you want to spend. I like the Paddock seats myself if you're willing to fork out the $4k+ a seat. You get to walk the pits and see the cars, drivers and team. Section H is second if you want to take the cheaper route. |

In 2000 I sat at the southeast vista, not bad saw Hakkinen's engine blow there, this year I'm at northwest vista which I sat scouted out in 2000. From what I'm hearing here and saw on the track, these are going to be great. |

There have been few passes on the Indy track of consequence. It boils down to your preference for seeing the cars maneuvering or at speed. And convenience. I like the feeling of the hair standing on the back of my neck as the cars SCREAM PAST, and I like to park at the American Legion. The stands directly across from it at the top offer a view of very high speed final turn, pit entrance and some pit stops, and I can look back over the rail at my car in front of the Legion (my own security blanket). Ferrari pits were in middle of straight last year, and I could see them somewhat. The bulk of Ferrari club fans are in Stand H and if you want to join the crowd, that is it. We will be waiving our flag among lots of other team flags, which I think is good fun. Have fun at the race, and don't forget to check out 'the Circle' Ferrari car show the evening before the race. |

John, I live in Indy and have gone three years. I second the opinion that H is the best stand, the higher the better. J is also good. The penthouse may sound good but will not be so good for watching the race. You can get tickets at the gate but I don't think you will be able to get H or even J if you wait till race weekend. Fred |

John, go to Montreal. I've been going for 10 years, and it's great. The city is awesome, and the track is a lot of fun. You get a lot of bang for your buck in Canada, too. |

Get your tickets at the gate. No problem. If you can, show up on Friday and Saturday as well. Free seating allows for checking out different grandstands. |

Thanks for the welcome guys! If you think tickets will be no problem at the gate I will probably just get them there. I was considering the Penthouse Paddock seats but not sure. Yeah it will be my first GP and I cant wait! Maybe next season I'll make the trip over the pond to catch one of the European events. Monaco would be a blast. |

Welcome John! I don't know if this will be your first grand prix, but generally I advise people against sitting on the main straight of any track. It used to be fun to watch the start, but launch control has taken care of that. One thing to know about the race at Indy is that the sessions on Friday and Saturday are general admission, so you can scout out different areas as desired. The final turn (oval 1) is kind of cool from high up--the cars are unbelievably loud there! But I think concensus will tell you to try for the end of the main straight where you can see the cars slipstreaming and trying to pass under heavy braking. Plus you can see the first few infield turns. Also, don't overpay for your tickets. After the first year, we decided to wait and buy tickets at the track. There are stacks of them available everywhere, and it's definitely a buyers market. Keep your eyes on the site here and try to join up with some of the fellow chatters. |

John Welcome to Ferrari chat: I have been to the USGP all 3 years and will be there this year. The best section in my opinon is 'H' the F1 turn 1 area. My personal tickets are in the N Vista section 21 there i have full view of drivers going into 1 all the way turning onto the back straight The first year i was there i had seats in the 'E' section but really did not care for the view not much action. I have been lurking around this board for a few weeks and I am loving all of it. Great community! My question is in regards to the upcoming race at Indy. Has anyone here attended a race at Indianapolis and if so I was looking for advise on seating. What section offers the most as far as view is concerned. I am thinkin I want to be somewhere above the main stretch starting grid area maybe a bit to the south. Any pointers or suggestions! Thanks a million!!! |
